We're staying at POR in March. Me,DH and 3DS's. I'm planning on bringing cereal and snacks as we are taking the Disney shuttle, and we won't have a car. Anyone have any suggestions on what to bring?:confused3

Obviously I didn't do the ticker thing right....any suggestions for that

My friend and I were talking about this exact thing this morning!

Prehaps you can consider busing it to DTD and then cab it to Goodings ~ likely only about $5.00 each way....

You can do a good amount of grocery shopping so you don't have to worry about bring stuff with you on the plane.

We love those giant 25 serving packages of mixed salad greens....they are $4.99 at No Frills in Canada. Last trip we bought salad, dressing, sour cream, bag of grated cheese, flat breads and salsa for fajaitas [sp?]. We like fresh fruit and veggies with dip since we don't always manage a well balanced meal plan. A case of water....juice boxes....granola....cereal & milk....muffins....treats that we can't get in Canada...etc.,.

I think you will enjoy the variety you'll find at Goodings.

Blessings, Sandra

Although we've never done it, I've read that others have ordered from an internet grocer and had their order delivered directly to the resort for their arrival - saves space.

We always have a car rented and take time to go out and get what we need.

We were at POR in the beginning of December. We rented a van so I am not too sure if it'll help, but we bought a jug of milk, cereal, snacks, bagels and toppings (they were a great snack in the parks to tie us over until dinner). We also bought some Orange Juice and a case of water. We at a LOT in the rooms (there was 6 of us), but one thing I can recommend it to go to the French Quarter and get some beignettes from the food court, they are SOOOOOOO yummy!

We have stayed at the POP and FQ and honestly snacks we brought from home didn't get eaten. I found that we could buy what we needed in the food courts or gift shops. At both places you could buy bags of chips etc right there. We went to DTD and bought snacks at Goofy's Candy Factory and lots of times we brought treats home from the parks and ate them in our room. We had refillable mugs both times and really used them a lot. If I had let her my DD10 would have eaten the chocolate cake from the FQ food court for every meal!
I guess it depends on your own family's habits but we never missed having a car and loved using the bus service.
Have a great time!!!!!!:tinker:

When we went we did not have a rental vehicle for our time at Disney so I packed some snacks to take with us. I packed them in one of our checked luggage and than used that luggage to take home souviners.
We brought our kettle and some tea and hot chocolate. We also brought a case of instant oatmeal and a box of cereal for breakfasts. We brought a case of the small cans of fruit (which none of my kids would touch because it was too sweet). We brought a case of cheese and breadsticks, a box of the fruit leather snacks, a big box of oatmeal to go bars and a big box of granola bars. We ended up not using half of what we brought with us since we were on the dining plan.

:goodvibes

Hey popin1 were going to be staying at POR in March too. Are you going for the March Break?? Were driving and were on the dining plan so we also are taking cereal. But if your on the plan I heard a snack credit will get you a box of cereal and a small milk. So maybe bringing food with you might be a waste and take up suitcase space for othere goodies from WDW:banana: I've heared the plan is so filling also.

I don't like waiting in line for breakfast. On our last trip to the world (CSR Jan 06), I took a toaster in my suitcase (got it for 8 bucks at walmart). I also took 3 packages of bagels, a box of cereal, a package of cheese slices, jar of peanut butter, jar of nutella, and a plastic container with some butter in it...oh and 2 large bars of dairy milk chocolate. We bought milk at the gift shop for the tea and cereal. My kids thought I was nuts. But they were happy to have their toast and cereal in their jammies in the morning.

At the moderates they have a coffee maker, but beware those little pouches only make 3 cups not 4.

The toaster didn't make it back (no space) and everything else got eaten. I did not bring snacks because they are readily available, and we aren't usually in the room that much. We usually buy some snacks at the gift shops as we need them.

We also took a cab to Goodings from Downtown Disney when the breakfast supplies started to run low. If you are considering walking, don't. Spend the money take a cab, its further than it looks.

Have a great time.

Welcome to the Dis!
I have gained a wealth of DISNEY knowledge here!
We will be at POR with my husband and 3 sons in March too.
POR is beautiful.You'll love it.
As far as snacks go you can buy alot at the resort,
But be fore warned. The food court is under renovations while we are there.
I'd pack some non perishables in the suitcases. Even though we are on the dining plan , my kids love to wake up to snacks, or even just drinks ( drink boxes). Also I believe STAPLES will deliver water right to your resort before you arrive.
Have a great time in March. Hoping for the same glorious sunshine we had this March!:dance3:

Since we are on the dining plan on our next trip, we are not planning to bring many snack foods.

On our last trip we packed a suitcase full of goodies such as nutragrain bars, small boxes of cereal, nutella, peanut butter, pringles, granola bars, small boxes of raisins etc. When we got to the hotel, we bought fresh bread and milk. We also bought plastic bowls and cutlery from the dollar store for the cereal and sandwiches.

It worked out great, we were able to eat a quick breakfast in the room before heading to the parks, it saved money and time. The rest of our meals we at at counter service or table service restaurants.

What about making some chex mix/ snack mix to take with you. Its like cereal but well you get more of a variety. My best friend takes that with her everytime and they snack on that.

Hey, we'll be there 3/7-3/15! Friends of ours told us about gardengrocer.com, I think we will order stuff from there to have in the room. Thinking about milk, cereal, snacks, water, juice etc. You can check it out on the website. There is a large variety of food. We are on the dining plan and would likely only have to have breakfast type stuff. Have fun and maybe we'll see you there!:thumbsup2

Thanks for all the advice!!! Yes we're going to be in POR for March Break as well. We are also on the dining plan, so won't need too much. I had read that the milk at the gift shop is fairly reasonable in price, so I definately think we'll bring bowl/spoons and cereal. I'd rather not spend the time in the morning going somewhere to get breakfast. I'm glad someone posted about getting a cab to Goodings. I remember where it was from a previous trip, and it really doesn't seem too far

We stayed at POR in December and they had a 10-pack of the little individual cereal boxes in the gift store along with the milk. An assortment of cereals... I remember corn flakes, frosted wheats, Froot Loops, Rice Krispies, and corn puffs. More expensive than a big carton of Cheerios in the luggage but lots cheaper and less time consuming than sit-down breakfast. And you wouldn't have to lug it...

We got plastic spoons in the food court and used the liner in the cereal box for a bowl.
