Ok, I want to pack some healthy breakfast/snack food for the kids, for 7 days I am thinking 2 small bags of baby carrots, a pack of cheese stringers and two boxes of yogurt tubes. I would like to put them in an insulated lunch bag in my luggage - does anyone think that would cause any problems? I could pack it all in my carry on too but I think the yogurt tubes won't be allowed. Any one else do this?

Flying out of Canada or US?
I think yogurt is still considered "dangerous". Not sure though.

Peruse these sites for info.

If you could find yogurt in 100 ml or less tubes then you would be able to bring them on the plane as part of your 3-1-1 bag.

If you're flying out of Canada, would the carrots be allowed? I would have thought they would say no about them.

Honestly, for the bit extra it costs I would just buy it there. We got a grocery order from garden grocer last time and just didn't eat alot of the food. You can buy big round containers of grapes and carrots and things as a snack item at the hotels and keep them in your room or take with you. Even paying a few dollars for the fruit/veggies is worth it in the end....just wait and avoid the whole can I/can't I at the airport. It's Not Worth IT.
You can eat healthy at disney.
it's just not as much fun!!

I believe she was looking for snacks her kids could eat on the plane.

No, I was looking to pack perishables in my luggage, and I am flying out of Canada. I plan to bring some cereal and granola bars for the kids for breakfast too, I had no problem doing that last time, but I have never tried to bring veggies/dairy before. I did read the US advisories, it said as long as the fruit/veggies was from Canada/US it was fine, no mangos etc. I am beginning to agree its not worth the hassle, but I am just so used to bringing my own snacks on trips, I can't stand buying every thing we eat at restaurant prices day after day! Thanks!

We flew out of Buffalo with Southwest in July 2008 and they took away our sealed juice box. So once we cleared security we went and bought snacks from the store where you wait to board.

Once on the plane I saw two elderly ladies pull out homemade sandwiches and figured how could that be? But, it was.

I would get on the flights website where they outline all their stipulations and regulations to be on the safe side.

Good luck and have a great trip,:santa:

It's all about the liquids. Dry sandwiches are okay. A sandwich with mustard or mayo is not. You can take wet condiments through as part of your 3-1-1 bag. A juice box would be fine as long as it was less than 100 ml and in the 3-1-1 bag.

:) Help me out but I have never heard of 3-1-1 bag. What does that mean?

Don't know about Canada, but when passing through security checkpoints at US airports, you are allowed to bring liquid/gel/paste items in your carry-on luggage only if they are 3* ounces or less and fit comfortably in 1, 1 quart clear zip-top plastic bag: 3 - 1 - 1

*actually 3.4 ounces, aka 100 ml

I don't think so? She said, "...for the seven days...". Plus, she's willing to pack the yogurt tubes in her checked luggage if necessary (which it probably would be, although how long can they go safely without being refrigerated) but that she'd like to carry them onto the plane.

The Canadian rules are the same (or at least close enough that I can't see the difference). You can check them out on the CATSA site.
