Will the list of available snacks remain the same on the 2008 Dining plan? I had heard rumors before that the allowable snacks were being cut back too. Does anyone know if this has happened? I sure hope not...I love those snacks!!

Sigh… (no, the sigh isn’t directed at you, it’s directed at the question). The 2008 Dining Plan brochure LISTS several specific snacks (20 ounce soda, single-scoop popcorn, “fun” bag of Lay’s chips, ice cream treats), but it ALSO states that ANY item marked with the snack symbol – a purple and white square with an “S” in it – is considered a snack for Dining Plan snack credit purposes.

Snacks are suppose to be single serving. According to at least one poster some resorts are no longer including the box of donuts as an additional included snack.

There is no official $4 rule. Assuming Disney wants to cut back the number of excluded snacks there isn't any reason they have to wait until 1/1/08.

This interests me as in Decemebr we used the snack credits to get bagels, butter and peanut butter and I'm not sure we'll be able to get them again.

In the 2008 DDP list 'Goods to Go' is listed as a snack place but I'm not sure what will be included for next year. If things like bagels are excluded then it makes the task of justifying the plan harder for me.

Wait, a box of donuts isn't a single serving? :rotfl:

Hoping the ice cream sandwich from Sleepy Hollow in the MK is still included. What a dessert! What a value on the plan!!

The rice krispy treats at goofys in dtd are delish and onthe plan too, just brought one home this weekend and still have a piece, i told my dbf next year im using all my credits to bring these suckers home!!!..lol

Yea, kind of bummed that you could get a whole box of doughnuts (that we didn't want after hitting the Dunkin doughnuts on the drive down LOL), but the fruit and cheese single serving was a no go :( We paid for the fruit and cheese anyway....since we really wanted it. But the snacks for breakfast worked out great, big muffins and danish to die for LOL YUMMY! And we use a lot of ours on the waters/powerades throughout the park.

I guess we will have to wait until 2008 gets here and see what snacks other travelers are able to get on the DDP. I hope they don't do away with all the good snacks. The have stripped down the plan so much it is hardly worth it anymore.

In August we were able to get a pack of English muffins, bagels, butter, a box of cereal and milk and orange juice as well as 32 liter soda and water..It was fabulous to stock the studio for breakfast or late night snacking.

I noticed that Wolfgang Pucks Express in Downtown Disney was missing as was Chefs de France.

The lack of snacks coupled with the lack of two very important dining locations (to me) means that we'll make bookings at the 6 month window and if the plan stays this way we'll cancel the plan and eat offsite more. Luckily we do not go until April so at least I'll know about the snacks by then.

Chefs de France is my favorite. If that is removed that will preclude me from getting the plan again.

oh wow i didnt notice chefs was missing, honestly i just loked to see what was all included and noticed that for the shows and crt that tip IS included but didnt go down the list, Ill be so bummed if they dont add chefs. we trie dit for the first time this trip and it was awesome

to those concerned about the restaurants not on the plan: Every year they must work out the contract with those restaurants that are not Disney owned. Just because they're on Disney property, doesn't mean that Disney owns them. This has happened in many prior years, and will hopefully be resolved soon so it can stop the questions, haha. But, wait a few more months. Chances are extremely high that these restaurants will be added back onto the plan. Keep in mind it says that the restaurants listed may change! :)
I, too, was very worried at the limited list last year when planning for our vacation in January 2008 - and this was in October. Do not despair, it is just the business end of the deal. I would only start to get worried if all the restaurants that were listed in DTD list in '07 appear on the list for '08, and Chefs does not. Then, maybe the contract didn't work out.

As far as snacks go, it is definitely the deal with the snack sign. The brochure has changed even since they first released it. The snacks listed are options that they've always listed and pushed as snacks.
A snack is meant to be a snack, not a meal, and not several meals. I wouldn't be surprised if they took off the box of donuts, but if they didn't, no big deal for me and I'd be happy for the rest of you who get them!

yes the final list usually comes out around november or so ive heard. i mean our trip isnt until next sept so im not too worried, a gazillion things can happen tween now and then but we ate the chefs this time and i wanted to take my mom when we go in sept. and yes the snacks sure have changed over theyears...i too hope they dont change them but if they did now that i am hooked on a few i will just get them out of pocket..lol

I wish that some quick serve/ snack stands took the plan on the Boardwalk. It is very difficult to stay at the Boardwalk because there is no where to use the plan on site. We love the Boardwalk Villas. Great hotel/ location. We have to walk over to the Beach if we want to use the plan for a quick meal. I understand that the places on the Boardwalk are owned by Disney, creating the problem with the plan. It just would be nice if some places took the plan besides the shop.

Hi Danielle,

As an FYI, Boardwalk Bakery takes the DDP and you can get sandwiches (both breakfast and non-breakfast sandwiches) as well as some snacks.

Thanks for the information. I did know that (forgot). I would never use the plan for breakfast at the bakery. The foods we get there are so cheap that we pay cash and save the plan for more expensive foods. The breakfast foods are very good there. We have not gone for the lunch. It did not look like are thing.
