I was just wondering what kind of snacks do you take into the parks with you. My boys are always hungry and I dont' really want them to be buying something every 30 minutes..LOL I was looking for some good ideas to take in the parks with me.

We carry homemade beef jerky (my husband won't leave home without it), cookies, fruit cups, chips. We take a smallish cooler with bottles of water, sodas, milk and juice for the youngest.

We go to the local health food store and purchase things from their bulk bins. When I get home, I package it in individual portions using snack size Ziploc bags. I don't want to bring a cooler (don't want to carry much around), so I bring snacks that don't have to be kept cool. Things like beef jerky, dried fruit, nuts, snack mixes, etc. HTH

i don't take anything but my husband likes granola bars & those prepacked pb snack crackers. he takes one in a pocket so he doesn't "faint" from hunger. i did see somthing cute and not real messy recently, Pepperidge Farms goldfish graham and chocolate grahams prepacked in a larger size (2 normal cookie sized pieces per pack not minis) they were10/$1 at our pf outlet so pretty cheap for snacks

but, my 8 yr olds love pretzels, Teddy Grahams, individual boxes of cereals, water, pb crackers or Ritz Bits.

What did not work.. Things that break easily. For instance, pop tarts. We tried that and they just crumbled too easily. What worked the best were things like trail mix, chex mix, etc.. which I could throw into a snack ziplock.

We always carry the PB Crackers. You do not knwo how many people asked us where we had bought them . I once gave 2 packs to a lady with toddlers because the kids were asking her for "Nack Crackers" LOL

We usually freeze a few bottles of water. Also, I take trail mix in Ziplocs and Little Debbie type things - if we have a sweet tooth;)

Last time we were there, we carried protein bars as a snack. The bars stuck with us longer than other kinds of snacks do::yes::

My DS'are 16 & 17, I like the ideas of the trail mix and the little debbies they really enjoy those and they wouldn't be to hard to haul around.

Here is a really good snack mix (vary ingredients based on what you like): 1 bag Gardettos Snack'ns, 1# bag M & M's, one bag hot tamales, 1 can cashews, 1 can mixed nuts. Mix it up and put it in Ziploc bags. The sweet and salty hits the spot and it takes the edge off hunger for a while, and doesn't make me get the carsick "blahs" on rides.
