We are going to WDW for the first time in July/15. We have two boys, aged 5 and 20 months and we are going to want to have snacks for them to eat during the day but don't want to have them eat park food exclusively for the whole trip. When we have gone to DL previously we always ordered groceries to our hotel from Von's and had it delivered the night we arrived. Ordered things like fruit, muffins, cereal, crackers and snacks for children. Does anyone have suggestions for this type of thing in WDW. We are going to be staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

Our oldest also has a metabolic condition (MCAD) and he needs to eat breakfast immediately after waking so we like to have cereals and things in the hotel for him to eat because its not always feasible to get out for breakfast immediately.

We won't be renting a car and I have never been to Orlando so I don't know the feasibility of getting to a supermarket the night we arrive either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I usually pack some items that don't take up too much room. Then I have some free room in the suitcases for items we buy.

I like to pack a box of cereal, applesauce pouches, granola/cereal bar/bear paws, microwave popcorn, oatmeal packages, etc. You can get hot water from the food court if your room doesn't have a coffee pot to heat water for the oatmeal. They also have a microwave in the food court to make popcorn-I like to purchase a souvenir bucket and when that's empty refill with the microwave popcorn.

I normally just pack what we need, but we tend to take very little. If you need more have groceries delivered by wegoshop.com or gardengrocer.com

wegoshop is apparently a better choice if you need certain brands.

You could also take a cab to a grocery store, but it wouldn't be any cheaper than the delivery fee and (even worse) you would have to spend your valuable vacation time in a grocery store.

depending on how much space you have in your suitcases, don't discount the idea of bringing snacks in your luggage. Packing things in a plastic tupperware will protect them from getting squished and I've not had a problem packing bread, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, crackers, granola bars, etc.

Also the resorts have a small section in the gift shops where you can buy milk and some other food items. So even if you do nothing you wont' be totally out of being able to get something on site.

Garden grocer is very popular but a bit more expensive for the groceries, also has a minimum order of $40 I believe, plus a delivery fee.

You can also use Amazon prime pantry to mail yourself a box of goodies to the hotel. Only $6.99 shipping, plus each box holds a lot and prices are great. Only negative is that you can only ship non perishables naturally. But you can get shelf stable milk etc. Or that kind of stuff you can just buy at the gift shop if you only need milk or one other thing. Prime pantry can be more cost effective than GG or other services.

Plus you are staying at a non-convention hotel, so POR will hold it for you for free.

You can also check out Amazon Prime Pantry ($5.99/box for delivery) http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=pantry&field-keywords We get snack/food items we get water, oatmeal, applesauce, breakfast bars, chips, popcorn, gum, etc. We get diapers as well for our little one so we don't have to pack that many. You can pick up whole milk/ 1% milk and bread for PBJ's at the gift shop/concession area at the resort.

I packed lots of granola bars in our suitcase, it was nice because you always leave with more than you come with so those freed up some space on the trip home ;) Really you have gotten lots of great ideas for snacks, if you do happen to be in the parks with no snacks and need some they have Power Packs that are full of good, non-fast food-type snacks. What I really wanted to say though is that Port Orleans Riverside has an awesome food court, lots of good, healthy snacks ready to go. The food is good too, and most of it reminded me of homemade dinners, plus the prices are much better than I was expecting for Disney

Our favorite snack to bring is to freeze a few tube yogurts the night before and eat them before they have completely thawed. Granola bars, bags of gold fish and cheez its are also a favorite of my kids. We always go to the store when we get there. Last time was our first time using Garden Grocer and I will never waste time going to the store again.

I always bring breakfast foods and snacks in my suitcase in tupperware so they don't get damaged. My staples are fruit snacks, granola bars, protein bars, goldfish crackers, and uncrustables. Almost all of the QS places in Disney sell uncrustables, but they are way cheaper at Costco :-)

people have made fun of me but one of my favorite things to pack is an electric tea kettle. I use it to heat water for oatmeal, in the mornings and for hot water for soup on the night where it is just to tiring to go back out. You can pack oatmeal or have the grocery store deliver it and I find that it sticks with everyone longer then just a bowl of cereal or a granola bar. And having a couple of things that you can just add water to at night can be very helpful also.
