I have looked at the approved disney dining snack list above, but when I look at some those approved snack locations' menus above, specifically Writer's Stop and KRNR at DHS, it is indicated that these spots don 't take the disney dining plan, so I am confused as to which is correct? Thanks to any who can help clarify.

The thread is not an official Disney listing. Disney's official listing is very short and includes almost nothing except fountain and bottled drinks and ice cream novelties. No matter where you are or what the menus say, ask if you want to know if something is available for a snack credit. The menus will not always say they accept DDP.

If an item is on the thread, it means someone who posted was able to get it for a snack credit, so there is no harm in asking if you can have it also.
