Snack Tips

We are making our first trip to Disney this June and will be staying at Art of Animation. Since we are flying our packing options will be limited. I was curious if anyone had any tips about nearby stores where I could buy some snacks (at remotely reasonable prices) to keep on hand. I was thinking of just grabbing some easy items-cereal bars, pretzels, etc. Our big meals on our park days are breakfast (one at 8:05 and the other at 10:05) so I'm assuming my girls will likely need some additional snacks besides our daily meal plan quick service and snack that we will have later in the day. I'm hoping to avoid any melt downs due to hunger. :) Thank you in advance for any tips and suggestions!

We're having some snacks and bottled water delivered to our resort by Garden Grocer on our next trip. Their prices are higher than the prices at our local grocery store, but still reasonable compared to WDW snack prices. We're getting pretzels, Apple slices, granola bars, etc.

Another vote for garden grocer. Higher prices but the convenience is worth it. Plus we aren't renting a car so really no difference in price if I had to cab it to and fro.

We used Amazon one year. Bought a bunch of snacks and a case of bottled water and since we are prime members we got 2 day free shipping! It was great!! :)

With a car I recommend Winn Dixie on 435 there also is an abc liquor there. Both are very nice.

If it's just snacks you desire, do you have room to just throw them in your luggage before you leave home? Single serve items such as the little boxes of raisins, trail mix, granola/cereal bars, fruit bites, goldfish crackers, peanut butter crackers, even the individual boxes of cereal are all small when taken out of the main box. I leave room in my suitcase for a shoe box (so snacks don't get crushed) and fill it full of DD's favorite snacks. I just throw the shoe box away prior to leaving so no need to pack it home. I've even packed fruit, apples, pears, oranges, and bananas before without issue. I put some of these things in our carry on bag or backpack also in case a snack is needed between home and Disney. I've had Garden Grocer delivery cases of water, cheese sticks and yogurt to the resort before and they were great all the way around, from ordering to confirmation, to delivery. Hope you have a magical trip.

Thanks! We could definitely throw some in with our luggage. I'm just not sure how to gauge how hungry they might be if our main meal is breakfast each day.

I have prime also. Did you plan it so that your food arrived the same day you did? Sometimes Amazon can be sooner than 2 days and other times it may be just over. I'd rather have stuff show up sooner than later but what would the resort do with it if it arrived before us?

some of grandkids get so excited that they do not eat well at major meals so they want more snacks plus heat and activity seems to make them all hungry as soon as meals are over

I haven't used prime, because we normally do a grocery store, adult drink run when flying, but others have said they schedule it for the day or two before arrival.

Sorry about that! I must have read your response incorrectly. Thanks for the info!

We scheduled it to arrive the day before our arrival. The resort just held it for us until the next day when we picked it up!

Looks like you have a car. We always make a trip to WalMart, which is about 5 miles away. Up 535, hand a right at Caribbe Royal, and it is about 1+ miles down the road. Pick up drinks, snacks, fruit, breakfast, etc. They also have a great selection of Disney stuff including shirts, clothes, mugs, stuffed animals, and more - so get your Disney fix for cheap.
