HI All. Does anyone have any creative ideas for breakfast items or snacks to pack in my suitcase? I'm looking for maximum nutritional value. I want to avoid empty carbs and refined sugars.
So far I'm thinking:
string cheese
instant oatmeal
nuts
jerky
I might make some kind of nut and grain packed granola bars.
I'm looking for stuff we can eat on the run and/or in the room.
Thanks for your thoughts. ELlen

Good list, though I'd be careful with the string cheese, since it needs to be refrigerated. Other thoughts that we brought along;

nut butters
protein powders and bars (Quest and Pure Protein are low in sugar)
dried fruits with no or low sugar-added

Raisins, crackers, popcorn, clementine oranges, granola bars

We packed: Cheerios, homemade beef jerky, homemade granola, nuts, dried fruit, homemade protein bars and Mio water squirts. Shipped it down before we left. That alone saved a bundle when we had those hunger pangs when in lines.

We have packed fruit & veggies as well. Wrap apples, oranges, etc in bubble wrap and then put them in plastic containers or sturdy cardboard boxes. (shoe box sized)

Last time we went to Disney we had a night of "build your own trail mix" before we left. Everyone got their own containers with their name. We had granola, raisins, craisins, m&ms, and all kinds of assorted nuts, and everyone chose their favorites for their personal mix. While there we packed some in snack bags for the parks and ate it with yogurt or fruit for breakfast. It was a big hit!

Lara bars, Uber bars (same company), bananas, nuts, individual packs of peanut butter and/or almond butter, Wasa crackers (for dipping in said nut butters ;) ), microwave popcorn, whole wheat mini bagels (also a good vehicle for nut butters), juice boxes, instant oats/grits/cream of wheat, individual fruit cups, Go-squeeze applesauce.

I have also made my own healthy muffins, individually wrapped and frozen them and packed them into a shoebox in my checked AND carry-on bags. They were fine and delicious!.....................P

String cheese will be fine in the suitcase. Not being refrigerated for a few hours won't hurt it.

That's what I think. Maybe also those little cheddar cheese bars.
I like the idea of the individual peanut butters. But, hmmm, a small jar of PB would take up little room.
And the microwave popcorn. Good idea! Not a hearty breakfast, but a fun evening snack.
I ordered some banana bread flavor Quaker breakfast bars from Amazon. Hope they're good.

I like to make my own healthy muffins. Then i put them into pringles chip tubes that i have saved. This way they won't get squished, and the tube is skinny so i can shove it into my suitcase easily. The good thing is you can just throw the tubes in the garbage when you're done.

if you buy the packs i get two uses of those small tubs of pb and you have it pre-packaged so if you have never used it before, they packaging really doesn't take up space like it may seem if you look at the tubes. i often bring those on trips and find fruit to put it on if i don't want it to go on crakers. also i got sunbutter in little packets like ketchup and those are super handy.

Our typical go-to packable foods are:

Jerky
Individual Applesauce Packs
Peanut Butter (either in single serve squeeze packs, or a jar of peanut butter in checked luggage)
Rice Cakes
Larabars/Uber Bars
Apples
Bananas
Oranges
Gluten-Free Bread/Bagels
Frozen Cooked Meat (Sausage, Ground Beef, Chicken)
Cherry Tomatoes
GF Rolled Oats

We always rent a car now, so really anymore all I bring is cooked and frozen meat, and pick up everything else when we get down there :thumbsup2
