I'm wondering what you guys reserve your snack credits for to get the best bang for your buck. I think its silly to get a $1.95 bottle of water with it, and would rather be able to get something more substantial.... Also, we are going during Food and Wine - Are the offerings at the concessions all snack credits?

Lastly, I just want to confirm - the custom made rice crispie Mickey Heads at Goofy's Candy Shop in DTD are no longer a snack credit - is that true?

TIA :wizard:

At Epcot, we use the snack credits at Paris and get yummy pastries!! :)
I have 3 kids and they loves slushes, so they are a good snack credit.

the funnel cake at Magic Kingdom is my favorite :)

(water is now up to 2.50)

dont know about the rice krispie treat at DTD, but there is a huge rice krispie treat at Starring Rolls at HS.

Chicken fried rice at Yak and Yeti CS in AK. Also Kaki Gori (shaved ice) in Japan at Epcot.

Lastly, I just want to confirm - the custom made rice crispie Mickey Heads at Goofy's Candy Shop in DTD are no longer a snack credit - is that true?

Per all recent reports, yes, that is true. Pre-made ones can be had for a snack credit, but not the make them yourself variety.

As Nala said it is true that the make your own rice krispie treats at DTD are no longer a snack credit.
Very little is a snack credit at "make your own".

We like to get the cupcakes from Starring Rolls in DHS as snack credits. As well as chili cheese fries at POP's food court.

When we first started getting the DDP we would use our snack credits for breakfast....cereal w/milk, bagel w/cream cheese, pastries etc. We found that to be way too much food for us so we started only having 2 meals per day (late breakfast and early dinner) and then using the snacks in between if needed. Well we found we hardly wanted anything in between. This paired with the fact that we would have a case of water shipped to us to have in the room we would end up with 30ish snack credits left at the end. So as not to totally waste then we would be getting whatever packaged things we could to take home.

This year we have decided to not order a case of water so we will used the snack credits on water if that's what we want. We are also trying the QSDP so with the included mugs we can get bottled water as the drink included with the meals and then use our mugs for something else...if wanted.

In general, I think you should get whatever it is that you are wanting to eat or drink with the snack credits. If that happens to be a chocolate bar for $1.25 then so be it. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to pay OOP for an item that you can cover with credits or to hoard credits just in case. I prefer to use my credits and then if at the end I'm need to pay OOP for something I will. We have found over and over that at the end of our stay we have a few credits left over.

Our first time on the plan I was trying to maximize value and would pay OOP for low cost items (ex. chocolate milk), but then I found myself waiting to board the ME bus and running to the resort store to use up my remaining credits on pre-packaged items I could take home. That seemed silly so the next time I used it for whatever we wanted, which at first DH disagreed with but then we both figured why spend money OOP on stuff we want only to use credits on things that we DON'T really want. Now we also just get whatever we want when we want it (which is not much anyway since I book a character buffet almost daily) and still always have a few leftover credits for items to take home - in which case I like the big Minnie Mouse cookies which are listed at 2 servings and a nice treat for the kids post-vacation.

All that said, some favorites: funnel cake, slushie, giant cupcakes, yogurt parfait (for breakfast), stuffed cream cheese pretzel (again, for breakfast), ice cream cookie sandwiches

When we were there we got these cinnamon and sugar coated almonds from a stand right next to the teacups. They were AWESOME!

We don't use them on drinks

We bring bottles of water with us and we can get free water at any CS location. Then we get 2 drinks with our meals (and we are normally water people anyhow). We also bring the little boxes of milk with us (the non-perishable kind). We have always stayed Deluxe (this time Moderate), so we have a fridge as part of the price of the room already.

When we could find a smoothie for a snack credit (apparently not there anymore), we would do that as a meal, but that is the only time we used it for drinks.

Other than that, we used it when we wanted.

I should add that we have only done the DDP, not Deluxe or QSDP...if we did those, I would use snack credits for whatever I wanted-even water, b/c I don't think that I could use them all

To add to the post before me I carried my "rescue pack" (My back pack) with needed items, but I also carried an insulated lunch box bag with 3/4 bottles of water in there. When we got our CS meals, we were on the DDP, I got a large drink with one and a bottle of water with the other one. So I swapped one for one as the day went on. I prefer Vitamin or regular waters with my meals and my wife and kiddo are soft drink fiends. So this strategy worked well and kept at least one cold bottle of water in my pack at all times.
We decided to do the QSDP this time, I was a little stingy with our snack credits since I didn't want to ruin scheduled meal times. Since we will have the flexibility to eat whenever we want if the kiddo wants popcorn, a coke, a pretzel or whatever whenever it's hers. We had 8 snack credits left on our last day so we got prepackaged snacks to take home from Main St on our way out.

We are not big snackers but do have a few favorites:

MK: ice cream cookie sandwiches and Dole Whip floats

AK: fried rice from Y&Y CS

Epcot: hot coated nuts, anything from the French bakery, but especially Napoleons, Kai Gori (although this past Oct the CM refused to let us get a kaki gori for a snack credit

DS: jalapeno cheese filled pretzels, butterfinger or choc/peanut butter cupcakes from Starring Rolls

DTD: Doh Bars (fried Snickers

Mara at AKL: a box of Zebra Domes

I put this thread on iphone. plan on using the info next week! So glad to see the fried rice as snack! I love all baked goods, but even I have sugar limits!

When we were there we got these cinnamon and sugar coated almonds from a stand right next to the teacups. They were AWESOME!

Thank you for the location! Someone had posted about these on another thread, but never answered *where* I could find these.

We do the DxDDP so we have a lot of snack credits and we don't pay attention to value. If a $1 banana is what DD2 is asking for, that's the best use of a snack credit in the world regardless of the low price!

We used our snack credits last year for all the food items at the F&W festival. It was great, we had the lobster rolls, sausage in the pretzal rolls & on & on all covered with our snack credits. Had water shipped to the hotel before the trip so no need to use credits on drinks for us.

We do dole whip floats, slushies, candied nuts, sundaes at resort (late night snack), fries, pastries at MS Bakery, bagels, pastries in Norway, Kaki Gori, shakes, fresh fruits and cheese (at resort), choc covered pretzels at Goofys, etc....

Snack credits are always the easiest thing for me to use...lol! On the deluxe dining plan I got 2 a day plus the refillable mug. In the morning I usually got a bagel or a muffin at the food court and hot chocolate in my mug. Then later in the day I used the second to get a bottle of pop. Once I realized that I could get a ham croissant sandwich at the main street bakery at MK for a snack credit...I stopped getting the bagels and got that instead when I could at MK...much more tastey. But at least one bottle of pop was a standard every day. It may not be the most bang for your buck...but then again I never paid for any food OOP so I didn't have any extra costs either just so I could get something more expensive with the snack credits. I always hear about people who have snack credits left over at the end and I wonder how that is even possible...and that's with 3 meal credits to use every day...lol! I had only 2 meals left over at the end of the trip and used those to buy a couple of salads to take to the airport so I could eat before getting on the plane.

I don't drink...but I would imagine using the snack credits at F&W would be a great use of them too.

Our favorites:

DHS Butterfinger Cupcake at Starring Rolls

Epcot Napoleon in France

MK Dole Whip

AKL Zebra Domes

Here's my plan for the next trip in December.

6 Nights DxDDP = 12 Snack Points = 12 Dole Whip Floats
