Hi, what is the $ amount that you cannot go over for a snack credit. If it is over that amount can you pay the difference in cash? Thanks!:dance3:

The general rule is that it needs to be under $4.00 (or should be a 'single serving' -- some things are under $4.00, but has more than one serving -- like some kinds of candy packages, etc.). And if it's $4.00+, then it's not even eligible as a snack credit, so no, you can't pay the difference.

The $4 is a general guideline but it is not a hard and fast rule. Some items costing less than $4 cannot be had for a snack credit, and some items costing more than $4 can. If there's any doubt about what you can use a snack credit for, always ask.

You can pay for one item with either a snack credit or cash, you can't pay with both for the same item.

Disney doesn't publish an official list (to the public at least) of what is or isn't allowed as a snack credit, outside of the examples in the plan brochures. Many snack locations (including CS restaurants) will note DDP snack-eligible items on their menus through the use of a special logo, but not all items are so marked and not all locations use them.

In general practice, however, you stand a good chance of it qualifying as a snack item if all of the following are true:

  • The location accepts DDP at all (some kiosks/carts do not)
  • The item is a "single-serving" item (designed for one person to eat)
  • The item is a "non-entree" item (corn dog nuggets might otherwise qualify, but are considered an entree item)
  • The item costs $4 or less (although some anecdotal cases have been shown where items costing less than $4.50 have been eligible)

The main exception to the cost rule tends to be at the Food and Wine Festival.

It's almost impossible to plan out your snack credits - plenty of places offer them, but many dont. There's not any rhyme or reason to what is covered - some items are incredible value and others not so much. You also never know where you will be in which parks when you want/need something.

I'm a very detailed planner - this one you just have to let go. The best way to manage snack points imo is when you're hungry find a place close and ask them what's covered. You will have lots of options, so dont worry about getting caught somewhere where you cannot use them.

Definitely check out the above mentioned link. Invaluable when figuring out how best to use your snack credits.
