Just back! Here are a few of my favorite snacks we ate this trip.

Not a true “snack”, but we started off with a custom mini-cake ordered from the Grand Floridian bakery! It was vanilla with vanilla buttercream and churro filling. It was so cute and yummy.

This cake was a surprise for my mom’s retirement. She taught her last day of public school the day before we left for WDW. She was very surprised! She actually saw online that you could order cakes while we were traveling down and joked that we should get one. Jokes on you LOL.

After our arrival and cake pickup, we checked in at the beautiful Coronado Springs! This was a new resort to us. We were in Casitas, where we had the advantage of being the first bus stop in the mornings. Very important during Covid times!

First stop was Magic Kingdom. We spent two days at MK this trip.

Nutella waffle and iced coffee at Sleepy Hollow- They’ve added mobile order here, which is great! I opted for no bananas. I was not a fan of the coffee but the waffle was great. Light and crispy.

Dole Whip swirl at Aloha Isle- mobile ordered again, which was silly because they obviously don’t make it until you are there. We waited a few minutes for these. Less than in regular times certainly. Swirl is always where it’s at! Nice and refreshing. Usually I like to enjoy these while waiting in line at Tiki Room but since that isn’t an option right now I settled for this pic!

After a great day at MK, we headed back to Coronado Springs. It was our first time at this resort. It’s very spread out but beautiful grounds. We stayed in the Casitas area, right across from a bus stop. This was a perfect location since Casitas is the first bus stop to the parks and buses were filling up quickly each day.

Duh, why did I post about CSR twice? I’ll blame it on being freshly post-Disney and still in a sleepy, sparkly haze!

On MK day, we split a chicken parm at Tony’s Town Square. Now, here’s the real scoop on Tony’s these days- the food is still just okay (although the bread/oil was great), but the real draw in sitting in the sunroom or patio so you can watch the cavalcade as go by! We were there for an hour or so and saw three.

I forgot to take a picture, so imagine a generic frozen strawberry margarita in a large glass. Only this is an El Mercado QS margarita at CSR, and the server warns you it’s very strong... and she wasn’t kidding! It was actually too strong for my tastes, but who am I to deny myself perfectly good alcohol? For better or worse, the bus back to MK arrived as I was finishing my drink and I had to chug it to get on the bus. That strong drink kicked in around 15 minutes later and I enjoyed the margarita waves while listening to the relaxing sounds of...

Of??? Inquiring minds NEED to know...
Enjoying your snack report... cliff hanger, Maybe not so much!

Epcot day was up next! This was our first time experiencing Flower & Garden Festival. We really enjoyed the topiaries. For a healthy breakfast we decided to try out the cinnamon roll bites at the booth near Test Track.

Forgot to take a picture because I was so busy shoving this deliciousness in my mouth, so here’s a borrowed pic from the food blog-

Ours were a little messier than these, and we requested no bacon bits due to food allergies. They were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and filled with yummy cream cheese. These were a little tough to eat while walking around, so definitely make a pit stop to enjoy them somewhere near the lake.

Onto Germany, where we grabbed a popcorn and some dark chocolate caramels from Karamel Kuche.

Another borrowed picture (shakes head). Why can’t I remember to take more pictures for the Dis? Anyway, the dark chocolate square was delicious. I really appreciate caramels with salt. It was pretty rich and large so I ate half and saved the rest to take back to the resort. It actually hung in there without melting in my backpack until our afternoon break, which is pretty impressive.

We took a pit stop in Arendelle...

Before heading to Italy for lunch.

Isn’t Italy beautiful in the spring??

We had lunch at the always yummy Via Napoli. My mom recently developed several food allergies, but I promised her she would still be satisfied with a simple margherita pie from VN. I ordered a water to start then quickly realized I needed something frozen to cool off. It was hitting the 90s throughout our trip.

The strawberry limoncello really hit the spot! It took a few sips for the limon to start to come through but it was very tasty. Sweet with a little tart, great for someone who wants a drink but doesn’t want a strong alcohol taste. Our pizza arrived and was perfectly fresh and tasty as always. Love that fresh mozzarella! My mom was pleasantly surprised with the basil.

After lunch we strolled the countries a bit and had a lot of fun exploring the shop in Japan. My mom spent a few years there as a child and really enjoyed showing me candies and toys and things she remembered from her childhood. Eventually we decided we were ready for another snack so it was off to France!

We visited the ice cream shop and I got one of the best things I ate all week- the seasonal macaron ice cream sandwich.

Isn’t she beautiful?? It was a raspberry macaron with vanilla ice cream and raspberry sorbet. These things are huge. You could probably share, but why would I share on vacation? LOL. The macaron was nice and chewy, and held together well (key for an ice cream sandwich). I preferred the vanilla to the sorbet, but the sorbet was very refreshing and tart. I’m glad they give you this nice paper wrapped, because it started to get a little messy towards the end as the ice cream got melty and started pushing out of the sandwich. This one gets five stars from me!

After a great day at Epcot, we took the next day to hang out at Hollywood Studios! We rope dropped Slinky and rode a bunch of rides before lunch. By lunch it was getting super hot so we were looking forward to our time at Sci-Fi. It was so relaxing! Very quiet, dark and cool. This is a great summer time pick. Overall, scheduling a nice lunch ADR each day really helped cool us off and give us a good break. We typically left after lunch but we’re fans of the ADR strategy. For lunch I had a cheeseburger, fries, and a chocolate shake. The shake was a typical chocolate shake- nice but nothing to write home about. The Mickey head sprinkles are a nice touch!
