SNA to Dland

So, I am flying into SNA for a weekend at the resort and it is my first time not taking a car there. I really don't want to be tied down by a shuttle or bus service because I want to get to the parks and have some fun. Taxis are expensive, but does anyone know any companies that offer a flat rate?

Taxis offer a flat rate from SNA to DLR area of $44. Sometimes the meter is less. If you are staying on property, the Bell Desk has a voucher with a $35 flat rate (SNA - DLR) you can use to or from.

Thanks! I have a ride back to the airport, it's just to Disneyland that I have the issue. I'm guessing that voucher won't help me out then?

We just went to DL for a quick weekend and got a mid size rental car from Alamo for $14 per day. With taxes and fees for Friday to Sun was about $38 total!

I know you don't want a shuttle, but there are lots of them lined up ready to go when you walk out of the airport. The wait for the van to full up is usually pretty short, since lots of people are usually going to the same area. It's only $11.00 per person, and the cheapest way to go. Just thought I'd toss it out there as an option.

Totally agree with Disneyluvr2! Taking a shuttle from SNA to DLR is a very quick trip. They don't circle the airport or anything. Usually, you walk down to the shuttle station, they direct you into a shuttle, and you leave within 10 minutes. The ride is generally 15-20 min and that's it.

Thank you for your replies! From all of the research I've done, most people tend to complain that the shuttles wait around to completely fill up, and then the rides are 2+ hours long with different stops. This is the first I have heard that it is a quick option.

I have never experienced that. I can't imagine that happening with any frequency from SNA. I would not be surprised if that were true from other airports but you won't find that to be true at Orange Cty. Now, I'm leaving tomorrow for NYC and was considering using SuperShuttle since that's what I often use at SNA, but discovered that it's a REALLY bad idea there. I guess it works ok at smaller airports but not so well at large ones.

BTW, I've taken SS about 15-20 times from SNA and only once did we have a delay, when someone in our van was being dropped off at a residence in Anaheim Hills. It made our trip longer than usual (less than half an hour), but typically you'll find that everyone in the van is going to DLR. This just happened to be a friend of the driver that he was taking home .

I would make arrangements with Karmel shuttle. Easy, quick, no trolling the airport. Only issue can be waiting for the others who booked it.

Not at SNA but at ONT, super shuttle absolutely trolled, getting nearly to the exit then going right back around to go through the pickup areas again. DS was little, we weren't dressed for SoCal, we were tired, it was rotten. Karmel has a policy that they don't do that so I trust them more.

I've also just walked out of the airport to the shuttle area, told the greeters where I'm going, and got on the shuttle I was directed to. Easy. All flat fees.

For our last 4 trips we've used Sunny's Transportation http://www.affordabletowncarservices.com It's just a little bit more than a cab. We're not rich, but there's just something extra special about taking a comfy town car to your hotel on your first and last days. We've taken the Disneyland Express before and it was adequate, but if you miss the bus, another one doesn't arrive for an hour, and when we're on vacation every minute counts and I'd rather not spend an hour sitting on our suitcases in the shuttle area of the airport!

SS can't troll at SNA (I don't think any of the shuttles can). The shuttle can only be in one area and when you pull out from it, you leave the airport. It costs a whole lot less than Karmel, though Karmel is really good. I've also been on other shuttles in the shuttle area and they were all basically the same time-and cost-wise. I wouldn't pay the extra for a dedicated shuttle at SNA for one person.

That is per taxi. If you don't have kids who require car seats I personally think the taxi is the easiest way to go. There are plenty available as soon as you exit the airport and the trip is about 20minutes.

Agree with this, too! For a family or small group, taxi is definitely the best choice--you can fit up to 7 in a taxi van, I think, and the cost is still the same.

If you're traveling solo or with one person, it's much cheaper to take a shuttle and won't cost you much in time. But...I often take a shuttle from the airport and a taxi back because I like walking out of the hotel and stepping into the taxi without having to worry about pick-up times or go pick up other people . Since I generally stay onsite, I get a $35 flat-rate voucher for it.

With the entertainment book rate it's $27 each way for us from SNA with SS. There's 3 of us, so this is far cheaper than taking a taxi. Even without the entertainment rate, I believe it would have been $33 round trip for a family of 3. We've done SS before and have been very happy with the service. Also, with a reservation you prepay and just check in.

This is what we do as well. It's nice to prepay and get the discount, plus you can also prepay the tip so you don't have to dig around in your wallet for the right amount. When my whole family of 5 goes, though, we take a taxi because it's cheaper!

When we got to the transportation center, there were two SS vans already loading; they put us on one and we left; we were the second drop off (a group was dropped at the park pedestrian drop off point) and then they dropped us at the GCH. About 25 minutes total from sit down to get off.

Never, ever in all my years of taking a shuttle has it ever been a 2+ hour ride from SNA! Maybe from LAX or one of the other airports, not not SNA. It's always about a 20 minute ride, and the van fills up quickly because so many people are going to the same destination. Like DizMe said, we only encountered one trip out of many where we dropped someone off at their home, and that was really late at night. If you're going solo, you can't be an $11.00, 20 minute ride!

we are flying into SNA on November 1, there are 6 of us, and we spent the extra $$ to get an exclusive Super Shuttle so we won't have to wait on it to fill up before we leave.
