Smoking - Great News!

I'm sure it will include major parts of the park but wll be interesting to see if they designate smoking areas which may remove the occurance of smoking in the queues :thumbsup2

That sounds great! :thumbsup2
Hopefully with them saying from Feb it should be well under way before we get there in March.
Although when they say: 'Cafes, nightclubs and restaurants are to be given until January 2008 to adapt'. I guess it'll be down to DLP to make sure it happens!

well they have already made steps as when we went in July the restaurants were non smoking, hopefully DLP will enforce the new rules sooner rather than later.

even as a smoker i think this is great news as it will discourage me from smoking too much -if i know i can`t then i can deal with it, and also even as a smoker myself it annoys me to see people smoking in queues ect,we always stopped and sat down somewhere for a *** break and even when eating in restaurants we will go and stand outside for a smoke!!(even in the freezing rain!)

I hope that this happens soon :thumbsup2 , but does "public places" include the whole park? That would be great (with designated areas of course :smokin: ). And let`s hope they will be stricter than they are right now!

is smoking still allowed in the parks? wow.. Im suprised Disney dont have a policy worldwide on that.

Good news that some changes are being brought in then! :)

I have a feeling they will designate areas for smokers. The park is classed as outside so they can smoke in designated places. I think this is right from what I read. You can smoke in enclosed public places. :confused3

Hopefully it won't be possible to smoke in queues anymore.

Just wondering - the ban applies to public places - could they argue that because you have to pay to get into the park, and because it is privately owned, that it is private property (which technically it is) so the ban doesn't apply. It will be interesting to see if it is implemented

I wonder why there are no designated smoking areas at DLRP? WDW's Magic Kingdom is smaller and yet they have them there. :confused3

I have to say in three trips we have always been extremely lucky and have never had anyone smoking near us. I do realise that we are the exception to the rule, one only has to look at the ground to see how much smoking does go on.

Let's just hope that DLRP will be covered by this ban :)

I agree. As an ex-smoker I still made sure I was out of peoples way when I smoked. I dont think its fair on other people especially children. I didnt smoke in the house or around my children. I hated it when somebody decided to smoke when waiting to get thier photo taken with Mickey Mouse and even in the Tarzan show. Either designated smoking areas or not at all. Fingers crossed.
