Smoking at DLP?

Am I going completely mad (perfectly possible!) or are they set to ban smoking or limit it to certain areas at DLP soon? I know they've banned it in restaurants but is it also happening elsewhere?

I don't know if it is DLRP specifically, but France is to impose a ban on smoking in public places from February, 2007 - Public places in France include stations, museums, government offices and shops, but not streets or private places such as houses or hotel rooms.

If Disney wants to ban smoking in the parks this would be the ideal opportunity to do so, much easier for them if the French government is taking the lead.

As an exsmoker (20 a day) I was always amazed at why people need to smoke in lines or during parades, neither last that long, in fact I always dropped down to 3 or 4 a day whilst we were there, not least because I have never smoked around my own and wouldn't dream of doing it around anyone else's kids.

Thanks Jill , I thought I had read something on banning smoking, glad I'm not completely mad yet! Hope they do ban it, as you say, it would be a perfect opportunity to do so. Even if they just restrict it to certain smoking areas ie not in queues, it would help.

They have banned smoking in restaurants so hopefully this is the start of a complete ban with designated areas.

As a non-smoker I have always dreaded the smoking at DLRP but we have been very lucky and have never had to stand close to anyone smoking there. I think it helps that the Explorers is non-smoking apart from one of its bars.

I cannot understand why there aren't designated areas at DLRP like there are at WDW.

Just to clarify, the non-Disney run restaurants are still listed as smoking (ie in Disney Village) but the French smoking ban to be implemented this year will most likely put an end to that. (restaurants, pubs, have until January 2008 to comply)

It's unclear though if that means that Disney will place a similar ban like in the US parks. (Germany had to pull back on it's smoking ban as there were concerns local vs federal rules.)

Just wondered if anyone knew if it was non-smoking in the bars? My partner was hoping to go to the sports bar when we are out there but DD is only 2 and we wont let her go if it isnt non smoking. x

You're lucky!! We were there in September, and got stuck in between two groups of smokers in line....for "It's a Small World After All"!!! Honestly, I could see people smoking in line for rides for older people, but in a kids' ride line
