6/27/2003 - Orlando International Airport Becomes a Non-Smoking Facility

WHAT: Orlando International Airport becomes a non-smoking facility

WHEN: Midnight, Tuesday, July 1, 2003

WHERE: Orlando International Airport

In accordance with Florida’s Clean Indoor Air Act and the recently approved "Amendment 6" to the Florida constitution, effective July 1st 2003 Orlando International Airport will become a non-smoking facility. Smoking will only be allowed outdoors on the 3rd level (departures) and outdoors on the 1st level (ground transportation) in permitted areas. No smoking will be allowed anywhere inside the Terminal Complex including the Airsides. Orlando International Airport and Orlando Executive Airport join other airports and public facilities throughout Florida in complying with this new legislation.

I don't think there is one inside (not sure if it's State law to not smoke indoors) we always go outside - arrivals and departures - and make sure we're standing next to an obvious ashtray/bin :thumbsup2

Once you get airside you can easily nip out for a ciggie, do it all the time. You just go out next to where you go through security!Take passport and boarding card with you. Wouldnt risk it any closer than 30 mins before boarding, just in case you get stuck in queue coming back through. The best airport by far is newark NY, they have a smoking balcony!
