Smoker-friendly resorts?

Hi everyone,

We are tentatively planning our first family vacation to Disney for spring 2009.

After lurking on the DIS for a while, it appears to me that Disney resorts are not very smoker-friendly. Dh and I are both total addicts, can't do without our pack-a-day each. So now I'm considering off-site.

Are the off-site resorts more smoker-friendly? We'd be okay with a non-smoking room but would ike to be able to smoke off a room balcony. Do off-sites usually allow this?

Can you recommend any good resorts? We'd like something close to Disney, nice landscaping, kid-freindly, good pool... are there any themed off-site resorts (besides Nick Hotel)?

The Vistana Resort is smoker friendly. You can get good rates on AllEarsnet. and here on the board with Dreams Unlimited. We no longer would consider staying on site since we have a smoker. We stay off site.

Just got home tonight from LBV Best Western in Downtown Disney and while all rooms are nonsmoking you can smoke on your balcony.

Universal is smoker-friendly. And pet friendly.
