What are the rules of smoking in the theme parks, i have visited some threads that have been giving smokers a real bashing.
I know there are certain areas that you can smoke in , but where are they, are they well sighned? I am a considerate smoker and wouldn,t dream of lighting up in a restaurant but am i going to be made to feel uncomfortale for lighting up outide, in public.

There is maps of the parks. So grab them when you check into the resort or when you get to the parks. They will have all the designated smoking areas on them. There are quite a few areas through out the parks.

You cannot smoke at Disney, except in specially marked areas.

A few years ago we went with my mom (who smokes) and she was aware of the no smoking rule but thought since she was outside and it wasn't crowded she could light up. A CM came over and told her to put it out and directed her to a "smoking area". They are marked but pretty well hidden from passer-bys. Check the park maps when you get there or ask a CM when you "feel the need".

Have a great time.

The smoking areas are NOT well marked at all- FYI. Look for secluded areas with bunches of people standing around and that's it. I can't read maps very well, but I had a real problem finding the right spots. What I really love are all the folks giving you dirty looks for smoking in your designated spots cuz they don't like it :D

Puff away all you want on the streets of Pleasure Island though- it's an adult smoker's paradise!!!

oh I know! People walk through the smoking section waving their hands, coughing, giving us dirty looks. Um...I'm were I'm supposed to be. I'm sorry...I have an addiction..but I'm in the right spot for it!

I think they are rather easy to find...they are well marked on the maps and always have an ashtray nearby.

few of my favorites:
AK - walking towards Asia...off the left there is a little path. LOVE that one!

MGM - right next to TOT

MK - right next to the Indy car ride...watching little kids attempt to drive...so funny to watch!

EPCOT - there is one right between Test Track and Mission:SPACE. Nice and quiet (but be careful if the ground is wet - I almost took a digger walking down the steps to the smoking section...very slippery.)

Our other favorite one is in the WS...forget which country...I think just after Japan if you are headed towards the Internation Gateway.

There's a beautiful one in England in the WS. My DH is a smoker and the smoking areas are always in these little out of the way places that I had never noticed before. DD and I wander around out of the smoke and check out all the little details.

They're marked very well on the maps.

There are designated areas all over the parks. You won't be made to feel weird. My boyfriend smokes and he had no problems a few weeks ago...

Although he did leave a smoking area because he wanted to let a little kid look at something that was there. He is considerate too :)

Thanks for all your tips, i have been considering trying to give up and this may be an ideal oppertunity. I know ill have to go without a ciggerette for 9 hours on the plane and my husband will not appreciate the fact that i may want to nip off and stop at a designated smoking area. So ime going to try from today to give up, i have a month before we go and i know that it will be a great feeling to be able to get on that plane noing i wont need one. I have done it before for 7 years so i know it can be done but this holiday may make a nother dream come true.

Wish me luck Marv

marv, best of luck with your decision to quit! Hopefully, you'll be having such a wonderful time on your vacation that you won't even notice that you're not smoking!

Schmeck, who is very proud of her mum, who quit smoking 10 years ago, at the age of 54, after 38 years of puffing!

Best of luck, Marv. A vacation is actually a great time to quit because you don't have the familiar triggers that you have in your daily life and there are a lot of activities to take your mind off that craving. Wishing you all the best!

Good luck to you, Mary!! A visit to WDW is a wonderful motivation to quit, and as you know, getting motivated to quit is the biggest part of the battle! You've done it before, so you know you can do it again. Let us know how you're doing!! :D

Good luck.We quit last year and I have never felt better. It feels so good to not have that craving anymore.

Please try the Nicoderm patches and they Help Alot.

Thankyou all for your support i have been all day so far with out one have had really bad cravings, so ive been drinking loads of tea and water. I found the last time i tried to give up after meals were the worst time and waking up in the morning. I have just kept my self busy when i have felt those pangs. I going to keep going and will letb you know how ime doing.

i must say that i am a non smoker but had the oppertunity to travel with a smoker two years ago. I loved some of the smoking spots. We would go with her when she needed a smoke and found most of the smoking spots to be quite, cool and out of the way. We never found one to be so crowded that we didn't want to take our kids in there for a nice quite break. (we would have snacks and a breather while she had her smoke, we would plan where we were headed to next. A nice change.)

Have to agree with stikerbelle - the one in AK by Asia is just great.

I agree that this is a great motivator and that being on vacation is a good time because you are out of your regular pattern. My DD smokes and she said that when she moved back home that she was going to quit. It has been a couple of weeks and nothing yet but she just broke up with her boyfriend so I figure she needs some time. We are going in 6 weeks and I am thinking about talking to her about trying to quit before we go. I have been wanting to lose weight for a couple of years but have been afraid to try, it is such a big commitment (80+ lbs) but this trip has been a good motivator for me, I finally started a month ago and so far have lost 15 lbs. Hoping for another 15 before the trip. Now I just need to work up to walking 10 hours a day and I'll be ready to go.;)

A CM in MK gave my DH a small pamphlet listing all of the smoking areas in the park. I don' t know if all CM's carry a supply, but it was very helpful.

Hi Marv
Just wanted to add I quit 6 weeks ago, I'm using zyban, and the following support group
http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/76750
A great group and links to great info. Good luck, I've never felt better.

WDW was also a main motivation to quit. My parents are coming with us and I didn't want them to have to wait for me to seek out the DSAs every hour! DSA=Designated Smoking Area as DH and I used to call them!

All the Best!
