Any ideas how to get rid of it? I have tried washing with soap and water and I have tried the Mr Clean Magic Eraser and have no more ideas. Anyone know how to get a black mark off of glass from a candle smoking and sort of etching it?

I've never heard of the soot not washing off. Did you try a scrubbie sponge and some SoftSoap or something like that? I try to buy candles not made with lead (no soot).

I was just trying this yesterday with no luck. Subscribing to see if anone else knows

Hmmmmmmmm...don't know how to get rid of it. Buy candles with cotton wicks. No metal, no black smoke.

have you tried a baking soda paste?

The only kind of candle that has been burned in this is a PartyLite candle--cotton wick, no lead. Weird, huh? I have not tried baking soda. I will give that a shot, thanks!
