Australia Day represents the date that the First Fleet arrived in Sydney Cove in 1788. It is otherwise known as Invasion Day or Survival Day to the aboriginals.

We have a public holiday and the government hand out Honours for the Order of Australia. Today is the day they also announce the Australian of the Year. Geoffrey Rush is this year's AotY.
