LB this is the question you were talking about. Not to worry I still have my job. I would have to be laid off for a very long time before i would lose my job because of lay offs.
Years ago i was off for 1yr and 8 months before i got called back. that was back in the early 90's. I still kept my yrs of service with the company since i was never laid off longer than my yrs of employment.
This time I was off for 8 wks, worked a week, off for 4 wks, worked a week, off for a week, worked a week. Now i'm off for 3 wks with the 1st and 2nd wks being our normal 2 wk shut down. 3rd week is a lay off wk.
I don't have to worry about running out of vacation days this year.
We are hearing rumors that one of the truck plants that we supply transmissions for has taken another 10 wks out of their schedule for the rest of the yr. So sounds like we will have even more time off.
They are trying to figure out now what they are going to do with us. My biggest fear is if we go down to one shift I hate working day shift. They might have a skeleton crew on 2nd shift and with 29 1/2 yrs of senority it is iffy if I will have the choice of staying on 2nd shift.
