SMGG, were we the only ones underwhelmed?

I love the Space Mountain ride....always have:)

but I was not overly impressed with the Ghost Galaxy overlay...
I actually prefer the normal planets and stars back drop.

:confused3

Don't tell anyone, but I agree. :ssst:

I definitely prefer it without the overlay.

I liked it. It was pretty creepy. I wasn't impressed with the nightmare before Christmas overlay though.

Add three more to the club. Love Space Mountain, but can't see waiting for 110 minutes for SMGG. I think underwhelmed is the perfect description.

we had a fast pass and waited maybe 15 minutes, since thye dump you into the main line at the entry to the building now....
and I still did not think waiting any longer would have been worth it.. Just didn't do anything for us. Waiting over 90 minutes would have been really a big let down.:rolleyes1

I liked it but I think limiting it to one month a year is enough. My kids have never been on "regular" Space Mountain -- it was Rockin' Space Mountain when we were there in 2007 and now SMGG last month. Maybe next time ...

Oh we liked it!! for sure, but yes, it's a monthly deal not more than that. DBF and I rarely ride Space but the girls love it, well we rode it with them every time. Oh and we used FP too, NO WAY would I wait an hour for ANY ride....not even Peter Pan....

Could of been darker and louder music :thumbsup2 I did a survey after the ride and told the survey takers that lol so hopefully enough people spoke their minds and next year they will tweak it. But it was a fun change, can't wait to ride the real deal in December :cool1:

I liked it just bc it was something different & special for a limited time. I remember when ppl would say that it was scary, but I don't know what was scary about it. It was fun to have something else w/ a Halloween theme besides MS, HMH, Halloween Roundup, and Candy Corn Acres.
I also really liked SM when it was Rockin' SM. I sure wish they'd bring that back.

We were underwhelmed as well. Fortunately we also had FP so only waited 10-15 min. I missed the space music but the up side was that since I didn't have the regular music to give me a clue about which part of the ride we were on, there were a few turns that took me by surprise which was fun.

I thoroughly enjoyed SMGG, but I do prefer the original Space more. I do hope they bring back SMGG next halloween though. I will be sure to make a trip for it.

I am a huge fan of Space Mountain but I wasn't that impressed with SMGG. I missed the peace and tranquility of the stars and the music. The overlay was something novel to try but I prefer the original by far. I'm looking forward to my next trip so I can experience the ride the way it was meant to be.

Having only ridden SM at WDW, my wife and I totally loved it SMGG. We rode it 3 times on Sunday! First ride we waited 55 mins with a friend who was in the park with us for the day, then we rode it as part of the Happy Haunts tour, and then we rode it a 3rd time with FP that we got at 3pm for 10:50pm-11:50pm. We toyed with the idea of trying to hop on the line at midnight to be one of the last people to ride with the overlay, but after being in the park for 16 hours we thought it best to just go back to the hotel.

Have you seen the movie, and if you have, do you like it?

I hadn't seen the movie (b/c I don't like the images) when I first went on HMH, and boy oh boy did I dislike it.

Since then, DS has become a huge fan of the movie and I've been in or near the room while it's been on probably 30 times. So now I'm used to it, used to most of the images, and I didn't find HMH to be nearly as, hmm, not quite offensive, but somewhere along those lines, as I did before.

OP, I just wasn't in the mode for coasters during our trip so I didn't ride it, but hubby did, and he was underwhelmed as well.

I didn't like it either. Just didn't seem to fit the "spooky" feeling for halloween at Disney rather than creepy...creepy can go elsewhere.

The alien wasn't great, the music was so so and I was mad that you didn't spin on the first hill lol

We used baby swap so waited 10 mins in the fp line and then dh walked right on. Still was too long of a wait for it. We certainly will not be sad if it doesn't return. I laughed because after all the hype we couldn't wait to ride, then afterwards I felt sorry for anyone who waited in a long line.

I will say this. I have never seen so many kids come out crying. Pissed me off that after all the warnings people still brought young children on it.

Yeah...even though DS won't even go in the building so I didn't see the sign in person...DS was even scared of the pictures of those signs online.

I hated SMGG!!! But I love regular SM!! SMGG didn't feel like "Halloween" and certainly didn't feel Disney.

BTW, I love the Nightmare before Christmas overlay.
