I'm thinking of updating my phone to eithier a Motorola Droid or a Blackberry curve. Does any one have an opinion? :confused3

Who is your carrier? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my iPhone. I am addicted. I saw in the news where Apple is going to release the iPhone to more carriers soon now that their original contract with AT&T is almost over.

Anyway I say go with the iPhone. There isn't any that compare! IMHO

Just got the Droid Eris after a few months of research and asking 1000 questions. I love it. For me, AT&T's coverage in the 2 states I travel to frequently weren't as good as Verizon. Plus I like on my phone buttons that show go and end call, call me old fashioned. I chose the Eris over the Droid, due to size, I sometimes like to stick my phone in my jean pocket and the Droid is bulky. Plus to be honest, I typed the same sentence on the Droid and the Droid Eris and had more mistakes on the Droid even though that has an actual keyboard. THe keyboard is flat and I really didn't like as much. Now the Iphone I have used several times, my nephew has one, I think its a good phone, but the camera wasen't as good as the Droid and occassionally I like to take pictures of the kids at a given notice. And I just didn't like how it only had one button, plus for me besides coverage, my hubby gets a good discount on Verizon. Go to search on here and type in phone name and you will find so many threads, I know I even started some. Also check out CNET they review phones and compare models it helped me....Good luck...

I just got an iPhone, and I don't think my wife has put it down in 3 days, it always comes back to me with a dead battery LOL

From what I have seen of it, which is not much, I would recommend it. :lmao:

We have Verizon. I went yesterday to verizon to check out the phones. After reading up online I thought I wanted the Eris, but I had such a hard time with the virtual keyboard! I like to think I'm a litlle phone/computer smart, but that one confused me! I don't want to wait for the iphone, but it would be nice!
The Droid seemed eaiser to use. Maybe i should take a class?

Both my DH and my son have T-Mobile Cliq's (both Droid phones) and I have a Blackberry Curve.

My son's Cliq has the slide out qwerty keyboard, my DH's is all onscreen. I like the slide out keyboard better.

My Blackberry Curve is fine, but the internet is better on the on the Cliq.

I have Verizon but I don't tweet, IM, text or use internet on my phone. I just make phone calls, imagine that!:thumbsup2 I do pay for weather radar, have used that a lot.

My phone is great for camping and outdoors, a Casio G'zone (pronounced geez-one) Boulder. Its shock and water resistant (multiple drops from 6 feet, 30 minute immersion at 3 feet) so you can't hurt it. Drop it in the mud, pick it up and rinse it off under the faucet!
It has a music player, compass, flash light, speaker phone, camera and all the other goodies.

I made one of my cousins gasp when I dropped it in a glass of water at a family reunion when she was bragging about her Verizon Chocolate, 'can your's do this?' Plunk/Splash!:rotfl2: The look on her face was priceless!

I'm about to have to upgrade, the newer model to replace the Boulder is called the Rock, has all the other stuff plus phases of the moon and tides for your location, temperature and a bunch of other crazy stuff. They also just added the G'zone Brigade which has the keyboard and internet access, it is also water and drop resistant and has a bigger screen. It requires at least a $9.95 data plan, have to check into this one, it looks really cool.

So if you're hard on phones, might be a good choice.:surfweb:

I have a Curve and I cannot wait for my contract to expire. It's uncomfortable to talk on (too big), and while I love having a qwerty keyboard - the Curve's is a PITA to use. My DH has a palm pre' and loves it. I will definitely get rid of the Curve as soon as I can. I hate it.

I have a smartphone addiction, I think. Right now, I have a Palm Pre, Palm Pixi, 2 HTC Hero's (same as the Eris), Palm Treo Pro, and a Palm Treo Centro in the house.

I really like the Pre. WebOS is very iphone like, but is not locked down and can multitask. Lately, I have been using the Hero a lot too. Android is a great OS. It doesn't multitask as well as WebOS, but it is more supported by developers. It is also not as easy to use for non techy types. If I had to choose between a Droid and a BB, I would go with the Droid....or I would wait for the Google Nexus One to hit Verizon soon. It is hands down better than the Droid.

I upgraded my curve to the droid. I love love love my droid! I loved the curve, too, but that was before they updated it. I haven't played with the new curve at all.

Well I got the Droid. Its pretty cool, but I miss my smaller LG phone. The Droid is heavier, I think i'm getting carpal tunnel trying to do all the typing on the keyboard.
Any tips on keeping the battery life good?

Download the app Advanced Task Killer. It will kill the apps that are running in the background and save your battery. I love my droid. However, they aren't fond of water.;)

Jen, may I humbly suggest....

You know John, I have one of them, it is at home. My droid did survive the dunking it had at the boat ramp yesterday. I was very lucky. It didn't survive the rain soaking the last time.

ETA: The Droid survived a day and a half. I answered the phone this morning and then the antennae went out. Off to Droid #3.

Try downloading ThickButtons from the Market. It's a free app for your on-screen keyboard that anticipates the possible keys you might push next and it makes them wider while making the one you probably wouldn't use skinner so it's easier to hit the one you want. Info about it can be found at ThickButtons.com.
