Smallest Crowds During the Year?

We were just in Disneyland the first 2 weeks of December and from everything I have read, this was supposed to be the least busy time of the year to go. And although it wasn't packed to the gills, I thought it was still quite busy. We are looking to start planning a trip for next year, what times of the year would people suggest that aren't that busy.

Thanks,

Here's what I think the crowd seasons are (IMO)

Low- Mid-late January (except MLK wknd), February (except President's Week), September, first two weeks of December

Low/Moderate- First 3 weeks of May, October, November (except Veteran's Day and T-Giving)

Moderate- Weekends in "Low" seasons, Early March (depending on Easter), Late April (depending on Easter also), Late May-early June, Thanksgiving, third week of December

Moderate/High- Most normal weekends, First week of January, President's Week, Mid-late June, Late August

High- Any long weekend (MLK, Memorial, Veterans, not so much Labor Day though), Spring Break (usually late March-mid April), July-mid August

Highest time of the year- Week in between Christmas an New Years

I think that covers the whole year.

We went in September and arrived at the end of Labor Day week (Friday) and stayed through the next week. It was great! The Friday we arrived, even in the evening, we were able to walk on a lot of the attractions and had just a minimal wait (15-20 mins.) for the most popular ones. We would go at this time again as we were able to do so many rides in a short amount of time. :)

I was there for a day in October during the firestorms and had the place to myself. The CM's were so bored they were coming out of the attractions trying to coax people into riding. The flakes of ash drifting down gave the whole park an eerie, alternative universe vibe.

We will be there second week in Feb. for the weekend. Hope crowds are lower, I think the days of the park being "empty" are over.

We've usually had pretty good luck with low crowds by going end of January- early February (before the presidents holidays).

I went on a Wednesday a week and a half ago, and DCA was practically a ghost town.

DL wasn't too bad either though. The wait for Mickey in his house was no more than 5 minutes, and we walked right onto Astro Orbiter and the carousel, and only had a short wait for the canal boats.

When we went in late Jan-early Feb, it was totally empty. Cast members were trying to get people to ride on Splash Mountain. We will either go the same time, or try September of this year the next time around. October was pretty crowded last year. The Saturday we went, we only went on a single ride. It was ridiculous. We were almost late to Fantasmic because we couldn't walk there due to the crowds. I was surprised it wasn't past capacity. It took an hour to walk a small distance.

We've been the first week of December, and also mid September. September was waaaaaaay slower than the first week in December (this was during the weekdays...weekends can always get busy). If my main goal was to go at a slow time, I would go in September since it's still nice weather and the Halloween decorations might be up.

I agree that late January, early February are very slow. Some of the rides are closed to take down the holiday decorations, but if you don't mind that so much, it's a good time.

We found the very first days of November to be pretty good, too. I think people put off going until a few days later when the decorations are up.

I have had my shortest waits ever the first week of November. Everybody and their brother go before Halloween! This year we went right after and had no more than a 10 minute wait on ANYTHING! Most we walked right on. Great weather too. We did go midweek.

Silly Little Pixie, you just made my day. That is exactly when we are going this year and I was soooo hoping for low crowds!

We went late April/Early May last year and it was great. We never waited in line more than a few minutes. It was very enjoyable. We're going again this year before dd turns 3, so we're going the last week in February. I hope the crowds are as manageable as they were last year!
