smaller rooms at the value resorts?

I forgot to say that my stay at AllStarMusic was one of our quieter stays. And we were there with the PopWarner kids to boot!!! I asked for a room away from the pool area and it was wonderful. And Music is the only resort, to date, that has left us towel animals and placed dd's animals in a special way. We don't tend to eat in the resort restaurants to much so the food court is all we need for those quick grab and go meals. So, even tho we own BWV DVC, we have no problem staying at a value resort in order to lengthen our stay.

I have stayed a moderate, value and deluxe several times each. Can only recall one or two towel animals so I don't think that makes much difference. Towel animals are NOT guranteed and I think that I don't get them since it is apparatent there are no kids.

Personally I take a value over CSR. I also like CBR and PO. (CSR just is not my style) Of course I also will taka value over GF (my one stay at GF I had worse service then at the All Stars.... I figure at least I was getting what I paid for at the All Stars).

Right - That's exactly what I said:

The beds were no bigger (or more comfortable). The room was shaped slightly differently, so yeah, it was a bit bigger.

Actually I wasn't responding to you, but to another post that was right above mine, but has now disappeared.

Another vote for values. We have stayed at Movies and Pop and loved them both. Both were very quiet, never had a problem. Also had fantastic Mousekeeping at both. By the way, you get Mickey soap at Pop! Also, the food courts at both offered more than burgers and hotdogs, we had some nice salads, pasta and my kids loved the fruit and cheese plates. We did 10 nights in each resort and I overpack and we were fine. At Movies we were able to store the empty suitcases under the bed. At Pop we put them on top of the shelf and in the corner. DD used the stacked up suitcases in the corner as her "desk"! We are trying a moderate (POR) in April and I am excited to try something different but am wondering if the extra $50 a night will be worth it. Unless it is, it will be back to the values!

It does seem like the moderates offer you very little for the extra $60-$80 you pay per night. The beds are the same size. The rooms, except for the CBR, are less than 20% bigger. And the locations/transportation aren't better either. They do have better restaurants at the Moderates, but if you're into sit-down meals, you're probably not going to want to eat at the same one all week just because its in your hotel.

Personally, I wouldn't even consider the moderates. If you want a nice stay, chose a Deluxe. If you want to save money, chose a Value. But for me, there doesn't seem to be anything worthwhile in between. If you want something in between, look to the DTD hotels.

On our first trip we stayed at All Star Sports second trip at AKL.We are headed back in Dec and will be staying at Pop. The AKL was nice but the whole time we were there all we did was sleep. We used the pool once during the whole week.At the end of the trip I had a hard time justifying why I spent the extra cash.

the only thing, imo, that the mods have over the values are the pools... and i was surprised last year at how little time we spent in the pool (hurricane could have had something to do with that though! LOL!)... so, we opted to split the difference and stay pop for the bulk of the week and then the last two nights at ALK...

The moderates offer a lot more amenities.

Bike/boat rentals, pool slides, hot tubs in the pool areas, and then things that vary by resort:

CSR: health club and limited room service
POR: Trundle rooms that sleep an additional child and catch and release fishing
POFQ: Smaller, more intimate feel and great bar in the lobby area
CSR: Multiple pools, larger rooms

This is a good point. It's just that for me, if I'm going to pay for any of those extras, I'm going to go the whole 9 yards and pay for a deluxe. But that's just me.

More importantly, your post reminds us of this. Disney's 3 categories of Value, Moderate, and Deluxe, are just generalizations. No two Disney hotels are alike in terms of location or amenities. You've really got to take a close look at all of them to decide which one is best for you.
