Hiya guys
We are going to be planning a custom for about 20-25 people. Does anyone have any ideas where a good reception place will be? I have seen loads of places with about 15 tables decorated but think they might look to big if there is only 2 tables - any ideas? Has anyone had small custom reception in big places? ( i know that sounds daft because someone will have just cant see any small reception pictures)
thanks guys - I'll stop babbling now!

There are several places that work wonderfully for small receptions.

Whitehall Room & Patio (Grand Floridian) – this room is hexagonal and has a pretty brick patio area outside as well. The room’s shape gives it a lot of extra personality and it has a large table in it that might work as a cake table.

The Attic (BoardWalk Inn) – this is a cozy room with antiques and couches in it. I believe you can only have buffet style meals here, not plated meals, but I’m not positive about that. This room also has a lot of personality and a more relaxed feel to it.

The Living Seas VIP room (Living Seas Pavilion in Epcot) - in the past I believe this could be used for small receptions, but check with your coordinator to be sure. It has a view of the aquarium at the Living Seas, so it’s really unique.

You can also use smaller ballrooms at the various resorts or outdoor locations at Epcot. Also, you can choose to have your tables set with fewer than 10 people per table to give you a few more tables.

I hope that helps! :)

There were 17 of us and we had the American Adventure VIP room at Epcot.
It was fabulous.
There was a very elegant room overlooking the world showcase.
It had armchairs and tables, elegant curtains etc, and off the staircase was the dining room, which again was very elegant. We had 2 decorated tables, one for adults & one for children. We had votives at each place setting and the lighting was dimmed. It was lovely. At 9pm we went outside to watch the illuminations. It ended the evening off beautifully. Plus we were allowed outside at 11pm when no one was around to take photos on the bridge.
Best choice we made!
I will try and find some of our pictures if you PM me your email address.

We did ours at at Living Seas VIP - we decided to do smaller groups at each table, I think we had 5 tables with 4-6 people at each. It worked nice for our group of 30, and we set up everyone at tables with people they would know from our various family groups. Ironically, many of the members of our small family didn't know eachother. Anyhow, the room is easily divided into 4 sections - the lower sections are by the windows into the tank, the upper sections are surrounded by a rail. We used lights to highlight the area that we were in, and let the far edges of the room just be very dim. The lower area we used one side for the pre-reception which was set up with hot and cold stations and a punch station. The cake was in the middle, then the other half was the DJ and dance area. The upper area by the pre-reception had a table for cards and place cards. The upper area in by the dance floor was where our reception tables for the meal were. I'll see if I have pictures that show how it was set up, but I'm not sure I do...

I have a small group as well. Thank you for posting this question.

I hate to ask, but do you know how much it costs for these places (ball park)?

Thank you!

My husband and I celebrated our marriage with a progressive dinner party for our family and friends (22 people) inside the "Great Movie Ride" attraction at the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. It was beyond magical.

Remember, Disney is capable of tailoring any venue to your liking.

Thanks Janine! Love the photos I really think I will look into that now
Janet - I was reading your story on your VR but lost the link and cannot find it for the lift of me! do you have a link as I was only at your planning stage (and its got great tips in it!) I quite fancy having it at MGM - apart for Magic Kingdom it was my fave park!
Thanks for the info guys :)

Little_Miss_Lozz, for my FTW VR Planning Session trip report, click here. For my FTW VR trip report, click here. Neither trip report is completed yet (life got too complicated, you know how that goes).

Again, if you have a specific venue in mind for your reception, run it by your Event Manager to see what can be done.

I think one of the California Grill locations is for smaller groups. I definitely recommend doing smaller tables. Ariels would be nice with smaller tables. I think a great location, if you don't mind outside, would be the Sea Breeze Point.

We had the same problem, we have 24 guests so 26 of us in total. I am having my reception in the Marvin Gardens room at the boardwalk. I went to see it last week and its got a lovely cosy feel to it. We are only having our sweetheart table and 3 other tables of 8. Once we have the bar, the DJ and the dancefloor in the room it worked out pretty good. The other thing i loved with this room is that just out side is a beautiful private rotunda which leads onto a private patio so my guests can go out for some fresh air. This is also where i will be having my pre reception.
