Small victory with Verizon

Any of you that have Verizon as your home Internet/cable/phone provider can probably relate. I absolutely despise calling them for anything bc it's always such a run around and turns into an ordeal.

I tried to cancel my home phone a year ago explaining that I do. Not. Use. It. It's not even plugged in, hasn't been for years. I was not in contract but they still would not allow me to downgrade saying that the package we had was no longer available and keeping the phone was the same price as a current package excluding it. So against my better judgement, I've continued to pay an extra $30-40 a month just to avoid dealing with them again. Well, we're really trying to get out of debt and figured I'd call again today after researching prices and seeing how much less I could be paying. I got an incredibly kind and helpful rep that was able to downgrade my package without hassle and were saving over $50 a month! (I also downgraded how many channels we get)

I'm stoked! That's an extra $50 a month to put in our Disney jar! (or be responsible and snowball, ugh:thumbsup2)

Good job! I feel your pain about working with verizon. I do almost EVERYTHING i can with my account online before i try and call them for anything.

I wouldn't do  until you get your first bill. I called and got a good deal on my MIL's phone, and the guy flat out lied about the price. I wanted just a basic deal and he billed for all kinds of other stuff. It was a PITA to get it changed again and refunded since I had no proof of what I ordered.

I disconnected my mom's phone in Oct 2010 when she went to a NH. I am still receiving monthly "bills" with zero balance since then, despite at least 10 e-mails, phone calls, etc.

It's so bad we are considering changing to Comcast.
