Small Travel Kettle

I'm looking for a small sized, electric kettle to pack in my luggage for our upcoming trip. We'll be eating breakfast in our room and would like to have oatmeal as that's all my daughter seems to like.

Does anyone know of any Canadian retailers who might carry a small, preferably narrow, electic kettle - reasonably priced of course

We've had a little number made by Philips called a Travel Duo for many years. It's a mini kettle (AC cord) and has a coffee filter/sugar/creamer containers that all pack into itself. I have no idea if you can still get then, though. Tried any of the specialty travel shops?

I bought ours at either CTC or WalMart. It was less the $10 and is narrow and maybe 10 inches tall. We pack teabags in ziploc bags and pack it with a few things to save space in our luggage.

You know you can get free hot water at the food court. We also eat oatmeal and so I packed a bunch of packages and 2 small plastic bowls and took them to the food court and just got hot water (tea water) and had that. We would go up for hot chocolate or tea anyhow so it worked for us.

We left the kettle at home last September and did just what you've suggested for tea on the way to the parks in the morning. We did take our small toaster with us though because DH and DS are ravenous when they wake up and by having it with us I think it still saved us time. We've gone the oatmeal route previously and due to the heat in September we figured it wouldn't appeal to us and ordered some cereal and bought milk in the food court.

I bought a travel kettle at CAA, don't remember how much it cost but I have had it for 10 years. It a small coil that clips on the side of a mug. Not plastic mug, has to be ceramic/glass. It also comes with a small pouch to store it in. I love my tea in the morning and this thing boils water like a charm, I couldn't live without it.

An immersion heater. I had one of those years ago, and gave it to my sister Apr 2008. Started planning Sept 2008 trip a couple months later. Dang, then I saw I should have kept it!

But I did buy a cheap 4cup kettle from Hart or Walmart for $10-I filled it w/ teabags (red rose!), granola bars, etc. I left it down there to make room for my souvenirs!

Tea is so much more enjoyable when it's actually from boiling water, that the hot water dispensers don't always cut it!

Going to do the same thing this trip. Already got new cheap kettle. I also brought a bag of Nova Scotia bagged apples. Declared them at customs, was able to demonstrate they were product of Canada (he looked at the bag...) and that was no problem. Again, more room for souvenirs on return trip!
A few of the comforts of home made the mornings easier!

This year, think I'll bring a block of Canadian Cheddar (must check that with customs first... is Cheese okay to bring to the states?)

Why not just heat the water in the coffee maker they have in the rooms?

Then make coffee after that....Oatmeal is usually to hot to eat right away anyway.

I don't recall the VALUE resorts having coffee makers

I could walk down to the food court for the hot water, but that would not be convenient especially if we are situated far away from it

Walmart sells small ones and I bought mine at Zehrs for under $10.

I managed to buy a new 1.0 litre kettle from Walmart last night for $10 - it was still bigger than I wanted, but there doesn't appear to be anything smaller available - thanks for the replies

I can't stand having tea or anything else from the kettles that are in hotel rooms. Everything tastes just like coffee and I hate coffee. More, I hate tea that has a coffee after taste. I always bring my own. I have one from Zellers and one from Wal Mart both bought for about $9.00.
