This isn't a rant, but more like a warning. If you don't normally use an ECV, but are going to rent one for WDW, please find somewhere near home to practice driving one. We observed one older couple where the husband - an obvious novice - was trying to manouvre his EVC and was bumping into things like crazy and his wife was trying to tell him what to do...it was 9:30 am and the poor couple was already frazzled. I can't IMAGINE trying to learn how to drive one of those things amidst the crowds at Disneyworld. (It would be like taking your first drivers ed class on a major freeway!) For a smoother experience, please do a test run before hitting the parks.

What a great idea to practice with the ones at Target and Walmart...My grandmother is going soon, as she was worried about that very thing, I'll have her practice at the store. Thanks for the info!

Come to the disABILITIES Board and look at the disABILITIES FAQs threadd near the top of the board. We have some hints and also some places to rent ecvs besides the parks.
Another hint is to practice at your resort a bit before venturing out (if renting from one of the offsite companies) and to choose Epcot as a first park to go to; there are wider walkways and a little less congestion than the other parks.
