Heya-
I have been having really good success lately with blood sugars and weigh loss after switching doctors (most recent A1C was 6.3 :cool1: ), and one of the things that I think has been keeping me on track has been food journaling (physcially writing down what I eat when, and how I felt afterwards). As you can see by my ticker I'm headed down to Disney in a few weeks, and I was wondering if anyone out there has any recommendations for a small, portable paper journal-like contraption?

I know about the online ones (my husband uses one for his Crohn's) but I'm too attached to paper ( :rotfl2: ). The one I currently use is smaller than a school notebook but more actually journal sized. I'm hoping to find one that would fit into this:

so that I can fit it into my pocket.

Thanks!

:)

Any drugstore or office supply store sells little spiral notebooks that fit in a purse. You may be so busy having fun that you'll want to just take quick notes and transfer that to a larger journal back at the room, so a 3x5 or 4x6 notebook will do the job. You can record your blood glucose readings as well.

Congratulations on the hemoglobin A1c improvements. We're almost the same! I have been using the Calorie King desktop software to record what I eat. I've programmed it with how much carbohydrate, protein, and fat I should have in a day, as well as sodium, cholesterol, fiber, and other things I want to track. That way I can plan my meals and spread the carbs out over the course of the day as I need to do, and I can easily see how good or bad some combinations are for me.

When I'm away from home, I use one of those little notebooks to make notes. There are smartphone apps but I like the desktop software and notebook combo.

I always keep a moleskin notebook in my bag or pocket. I picked mine up at Barnes and Noble. There were some different sizes to select from. I like it because it doesn't have a wire for the binding like a mead notebook would. Those always start snagging on insides of bags.

Just another thought...I was using my iPhone for journaling when I was losing weight. My app of choice is MyFitnessPal. It has food, exercise and water journaling options as well as notes.

My iPhone fits perfectly into my Dooney (along with my license, credit card and lipstick :-) ).

Thanks, I'll have to look into these! The online options (myfitness, etc) just doesn't work for me, but my husband uses it constantly to track his intake with his Crohn's. It helps him make sure that he's where he needs to be, but he is a computer geek. Me, I guess I shall ever prefer paper.

Fair enough. My iPhone is with me ALL the time so it is easier for me than carrying a second thing. Hope you find something that works for you,

Found some, so thanks for all the help! I found itty bitty composition notebooks at Target, and then small sized moleskine notebook that will fit in it as well

. I didn't realize they made them that small. Now to practice small writing!
