I need opinions. I have been looking a a 25 pt Boulder Ridge contract ($3883) for SAP. However , with such a small contract , is it worth it? Would i be better off just buying OTU points when needed?

I probably wouldn't buy a small contract just for SAP because the value is not very good. Better to just get OTUPs as you need them. I would only buy a small contract if I already owned at that resort and wanted a little add on.

If you’re regularly buying OTUP, then by all means find a small contract & add on!! However, if you only buy them occasionally… and/or if you don’t own any other BRV points, I wouldn’t. Now, if you already own there- that’s totally different. Bc then you could use them regularly with current points, plus as SAP/OTUP. Win-win 😁😉

(Moral of the story- if it was me- I would add on a small contract where I already own.)

The big difference is that the OTU points are only good at 7 months and you have the 11 months if you purchase. However, it's a lot of upfront front money for only 25 points. So its really a matter of when you need the points

Interesting dilemma. It probably depends on how often you'll use them, what for, and whether you want the flexibility to know you're using the 25 points but still have the ability to add on 24 more during the year in OTUP. As far as value, it's interesting that it's actually pretty close in price. I'm sure at some point DVC will raise the price for OTUP, but until they do, it's not a huge difference. Assuming 20 years of points left on the BRV contract (depends on what you get as far as current points available on the contract), but you'd be paying $7.76 per point, per year. So right now, with $8.15 in dues, you'd be paying $15.91 per point for this year - not that far from the $19 per point for the OTUP. Of course, I wish OTUP were easier to use, for example, being able to do it through the website and being able to make waitlists that would use them.

I have started to love OTUP, especially with the restrictions on borrowing (which just were lifted). It has actually freed up some points on our smaller contract to allow some banking to build up. Honestly, I have purchased the past few years to supplement our growing needs for points. My struggle now is I would like to purchase (direct) another 25 at CCV but they only offer in 50 point increments. The good news (to me) is you can supplement without the long-term commitment.
