Quick question,
My youngest will be almost 2 when we travel to WDW. We are planning on using ME. Should we bring a car seat? Does ME already have car seats in the buses? Or are car seats not required? Depending on the seats in the buses, I would think it may not even be possible to put in a car seat.
Thanks for your help!!

Yes you may use Magical Express.

No, car child seats are not supplied and you generally must "check" your child seat under tghe bus because there are no belts to hgold it in place.

So I understand this correctly, infants, toddlers, preschoolers that fall under FL safety seat regulations ride the bus without restraints? Children ride the ME in the same manner they ride the tme park buses? We are back and forth about ME vs. car rental...not sure if I'm liking the idea of my 3yr old not strapped in between the airport & resort.

In a car or airplane there are seat belts for everybody and a child is better off in a child seat instead of just the regular seat belt.

In a bus or shuttle van there are seat belts for nobody and a child is worse off in a child seat in an accident compared with sitting in the regular seat.

Buses are designed differently to protect occupants in the event of a crash. It would be nice to have seat belts on the buses but DME does not have them. It is perfectly legal.

Yes, just like you and I. The buses use compartmentalization, rather than seatbelts, to reduce injuries. I'm a huge carseat advocate, but even I allow my child to ride on a bus without a seatbelt as long as it was designed to be used that way. But if you're not comfortable with that arrangement, there are vans, towncars, and the like that do provide seatbelts.

I had no idea there was a difference in safety regs as far as buses are concerned. I love these boards--I learn something new almost every day! :teeth:

Thanks for the info! We are renting a car from MCO to the resort, but are thinking seriously about using DME for the return trip.

Just like the school bus, it doesn't have seat belts.

Motorcoaches rival air travel in terms of safety.

The most important thing I can say is for your child to stay seated, butt down, feet forward.

Parents should accompany children in the front row due to reduced impact protection.

Walking up/down the aisle/ standing on knees presents the most danger to our younger passengers.

I do my part, please do your yours....Thanks
