small amount of points?

Hello folks,
I've read several postings about people having 210 points here, 20 points there, etc etc. Could someone explain to me the advantage of having the smaller number of points?
Even though those points would allow me to book an evening or two at 11 months (at the most), wouldn't I have to wait until 7 months to use my points from my home resort?
I love my home resort (SSR), but stayed at VWL last Feb (spectacular!!!), and have been considering (just considering, mind you) adding on. I feel like I have enough points (is there such a thing?), but was thinking a small addition would be a bad thing. Right?
If this question has been answered elsewhere, then I'd appreciate a nudge in the right direction.
Thanks!
(I also apologize if my acronyms are incorrect).

I am also a SSR owner and I am waitlisting for 50 pts at both BCV and VWL. I plan to do the bulk of my stays at SSR but I would love a nice summer visit at BCV and hubby would like a Dec stay at VWL this way we keep our January SSR trip and can alternate years with the small contracts.

By using banking an borrowing a small 50 point contract is 150 points every three years. Use your primary contract the other two years.

Yes, you would have to wait - you can't use your SSR points anywhere but SSR until the 7 month window opens.

As the other posters have mentioned, some like the smaller add ons (25 points is the smallest you can get). They bank and borrow to have up to 3 years worth of points to use at the 11 month window at the "add on" resort. With that strategy, they can go to the "add on" every thrid year.

Best wishes -
