I`ve phoned our guide with a view to buying a 27 point add on at AKV. Can I ask a few questions and get a bit of advise.
Should I ask for a seperate contract?
Our use year is sept. so will our points start at this sept with 2007 points only?
Cost is $104 per point.
No closing costs?
Anything else??
Thanks I appreciate all help.

If you want to have this as a separate -- ie, master -- contract, then the 160 point minimum for a new contract applies.

Since you only want to add 27 points, then this has to be a sub-contract to your existing membership. With that few points, it has to be paid in cash (minimum for Disney financing is 50 points), and it has to have the same UY as your existing membership. There would be no additional closing costs -- just pay the money for the number of points you want, and it's a done deal! They should show up for the 2007 year.

One caveat: they will only be able to do this if they have the points in inventory for your use year. If they haven't released those points into inventory yet, then you may have to be waitlisted. With the pace of construction, however, I can't think that would be too long. Good luck!

You have gotten the correct information, but why would you want this to be a seperate contract? You will have all the same home resort benefits for that small add-on as you do with any other, so there seems to be no reason for it to be seperate.

Thanks for the replies.
I think I`m a bit confused about the wording of the seperate contract bit - I thought I read that additional points are better in a sub contract so if we needed to sell them (who knows?) we wouldn`t have to get rid of all our DVC ownership.
See what I mean about needing help!

You could sell this one separately if you wanted to at a later date. You just couldn't break it up into two smaller ones (like 15 and 12).

Why only 27 points? Seems like such a low number, even for every three years.

My thinking was a std view studio for 3 nights value season. We`ve stayed at AKL for that time span before, we really enjoyed it. We would add those days to our 14/21 day trips - we live in the UK.

Disney will set this up as an "add on" contract to your existing master contract, so it will be a separate contract that can be sold separately from your master contract.

When people use the term "separate" they usually mean a "separate master" contract which happens when someone purchases a different Use Year. If you have more than one Master contract, you have a separate membership number for each one. If you wanted to combine points from both contracts to make a reservation, you would have to transfer the points from one to the other, using up your one transfer per UY on both contracts. So you would want to have a good reason for setting things up this way.

With an "add on" contract, the points can be pooled when making a reservation at the 11-month window if the points are for the same resort, or at the 7-month window if the add-on points are for a different resort. Points are also pooled when calculating your banking percentages.

Thanks again - thanks to all the help here added on 27 points in a very swift phone call.
Points come on this Sept. Great :goodvibes

Welcome home! Glad you are joining the rest of us AKV add on folks!

MerylJ, If your points are coming in sept, it is because you have a sept UY

Cause I called my guide for 100AKV add-on and he said that my points will come in dec cause decUY, nothing before
Is it true?

For AKV I believe you are correct. I believe that this is because AKV is just being built and is in its first year. Therefore there would not be any points from Dec. 06 to give you.

Did this help or just add to the confusion? :confused3

Yes our UY is sept - I believe add on points have to have the same UY as the main contract.
Good luck with your purchase - great decision:goodvibes
