im a disneyland veteran. we recently came back from a february trip to disneyland and are now in the works of planning next years vacation and have decided to finally try out DW for the first time! question is, what is the slowest time of year to go? for us at DL it generally is february which is why we go in that month. we have a toddler and we dont care for HIGH crowds, so help me out! whats the absolute slowest time? we were hoping jan or feb like DL cause we like the weather at that time. thanks!

also at a slow time is 5 days enough to do all the parks??????? most people i know have to do atleast 3 days even 4 at DL at the slow time but we get everything done in 2 so we are fast movers lol

after New Years until Presidents Day, After Labor Day (restaurants have been busy recently because of the dining offers) and after Thanksgiving through mid December are the slower times of the year.

First keep in mind that Disneyland slow and Disney World slow are totally different! We went to DL in sept. and it was what I would consider slow. Some of the FP machines weren't even open. We went to DW January 2010
and to me it was crowded some days. The lines were only 10-15 min except TSM but there were lots of Brazillian tour groups. We still got everything we really wanted to do accomplished, and had a wonderful time:)

You'll get a lot in with 5 days but with four parks to conquer you'd need 15 days, or more, to do it all.

Either way have fun!

we always try and go in january but be careful to avoid the marathon weekend and martin luther king day weekend. The slowest time that we have ever been was teh week before the marathon started. we literally felt like the only people in the parks, it was crazy.

teh brazilian tour groups do suck and will most likely be apart of your winter vacation but it is just something you'll have to learn to deal with.

5 days is not enough to do the parks. You may be able to hit the highlights but with a toddler, MK takes at least 3 days, DHS takes 2 if you want to see the shows, Epcot takes 2 if you actually want to explore the countries, and AK can be done in a day.

well i guess were not big explorers. we never do anything we dont like. we usually DONT see shows cause our son wont sit for them and any rides that will bore him he starts screaming, he needs constant movement, he is easily bored. thats why we zoomed through DL. unfortunately we like some of those rides but oh well. everyone told us we need 4 days at DL too but like i said we did it in 2. we prolly wont hang around epcot much, again our son may get bored. we didnt get to do jungle cruise, small world only once as it was too slow and he bored out and cried, no dumbo, astro, or tea cups as he would get sick, no story book boat, and nothing at cali besides monsters, so we move pretty fast through the parks. it happens at all theme parks, just because we have an easily bored kiddo lol. he LOVED the bright things like pooh, toad, and really loved HM and POTC. he just gets bored of many things. he really hated IASM though lol. we are going with friends and are going to child swap on things we cant take the kiddos on or whatever the kids dont want to ride and we do. ive heard most people say u need 7 days in the BUSY season so i doubt we will need it in the off season. i think it depends on the persons speed and we tend to try and rush through things, though its less enjoyable, because going slow is impossible with our hyper toddler LOL. thanks so much for the advice though :) i really with the had indiana jones ride there :(

i really with the had indiana jones ride there :(

ME too!!! I don't get why they don't. LOVE that ride!!!

Just as a warning, if it is truly a slow time, they don't do the child swap. FP machines are not up and running either. For your touring style, I would say that you can finish it in 5 days. I'm questioning who suggested that you need 4 days at DL though??? Really??? We could hit the highlights in 2 days!

If you don't want to see shows, DHS could easily be done in a 1/2 day. Same for Epcot if you don't want to do WS or you may want to skip it entirely. AK should still take a day but that is primarily due to the amount of walking. That way you can focus most of your attention on MK.

out of 7 trips in the last 5 yrs, april was our favorite, least crowded, pretty flower and garden fest at Epcot. great weather. :thumbsup2

Last week in January / First week February was a good time for us

thanks everyone for the great advise! i think we are laid back anyways and we are gonna probably do 6 day tickets. its gonna be a blast!

There are soooooooo many responses to your question, so I think it is all relative. We started going to disney world in 1975 when a water view room at the Polynesian was $55/nite and "E" tickets could be bought for $11.75. We have been there over 33 times, always stay "on property" and have gone with friends, our children and just the two of us. We have visited any month over the years from February to December and our favorite time is the beginning of May. It is not crowded so no long lines and the weather is great. Easter and Christmas are nightmares - way too many people and at Christmas there are TONS of international travelers. One Christmas we waited over 2 hours for a ride on wild mountain train - ridiculous! We have always gotten a length of stay pass so if we wanted we could go to the parks every day or a water park, if we wished. We've stayed at Polynesian, Contemporary Tower, Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, Golf Resort (now Shades of Green), Coronado Springs, Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans-Riverside, Grand Floridian, Yacht and Beach Clubs, and they are all really great hotels - it just depends upon your budget. Have a "magical" stay!!
