We are starting to plan another trip to WDW :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

DH wants to go at a different time then usual if possible
but i like the slower times

so when is the slowest or least crowded times ????

TIA :)

Usually Jan, Feb, parts of May and late Sept are the slower times. Although this year, it seemed that it remained busy for most months. Either that or we planned really badly and hit everyday that was crowded.

We went mid-October this year, and while it was by no means empty, I found it quite managable. Plus then there is MNNSHP!

The past 2 years we went to Disney the last week of August and mid September. We were able to walk on most of the rides at all the parks. I think the only small wait we had was for Soarin at Epcot(maybe 30 minutes) this past fall. The negative is that it is extremely hot. We are both from Fl and Coastal NC is the same so it really wasn't an issue for us.

We always went in October and it was not too crowded. When planning another trip a few years ago, we noticed how the rates dropped alot if we went a couple of weeks earlier - Mid to End of September. I have to say that going in September is perfect because there is nobody there. We sometimes got asked if we wanted to stay on a ride and go on it again. I think because the kids are just back to school, people do not want to pull them out. The weather in September is beautiful too. Not alot of rain. Hot enough to go swimming and go to the water parks but not humid so I think September is the best time, crowd wise and weather wise.

Early November used to be a relatively slow time. Is it still?

We love traveling in September and January.

I think the beginning of Nov. is O.K. Obviously not as slow as Sept. or Oct. and the further into November you go the more crowded it will get. I would say anything after the very beginning of Nov. is going to start getting very crowded because people want to see the Christmas decorations. The weather is also alot cooler if you are interested in doing alot of swimming.

The weather in September is beautiful too. Not alot of rain. Hot enough to go swimming and go to the water parks but not humid so I think September is the best time, crowd wise and weather wise.

Just a reminder that early September is the peak of hurricane season. I agree that the weather is often quite pleasant, but if a hurricane approaches either central coast, Orlando can get quite a bit of rain from the backwash. Last year's direct hits on Orlando were quite rare, but rain is not unusual in September. Also, the lovebugs usually spawn during mid-September sometime, and a lot of people really have issues with that.

The lowest crowds of the year are in September. We usually go this time of year...it is literally walk on to everything. It is the time when kids are back in school and before MNSSHP and the Food and Wine Festival. During this time there are no events going on, very rare indeed for WDW. It is also peak hurricane season, which is most likely why there is nothing slated during this time. The weather is still very hot...not 104 but still in the 90's and VERY humid. It also rains often this time of year, but with it being so humid you really welcome the rain. The threat of hurricanes is real as we were in one last year.

So there is a trade off...lowest crowds of the year BUT very unstable weather.

We did 2 trips this year, one in mid Sept..crowds non existant - the heat/humidity was unbearable. We also just returned from the second (dec 12-16) The crowds were higher than September but still very low and the weather was just perfect. We did not wait very long or anything and I think enjoyed it more because of the cooler temps and lower humidity. The holiday decorations are just wonderful. We stayed at the GF and did notice much more hotel traffic, but I think that is due to people visiting resorts to see the holiday decorations.

We've been there twice the calendar week before Thanksgiving and found it practically empty. The weekends filled in. We were there within months of Mission:Space opening and walked right on. Besides the fact that he left for the Persian Gulf at the end of the trip, it was great! We've talked about pulling (future- far future!) kids out of school for that week.
