Video slots. I rarely go to a casino, but when I do, I bring "X" number of dollars, which I know I'm going to lose - and when it's gone, so am I.
I guess my question is - after I put my money in the machine, and every button on the darned thing lights up, what do I press first? Or do I just go with "Play" and hope for the best?
Well, it really depends on the machine. Let's take the ever so popular Wheel of Fortune nickel video slots as an example. After you put your money in, you're right, every darned light will light up...LOL. You have two rows of buttons. The top row of buttons is for you to choose how many lines you'd like to play. Some machines have 15 lines and up. For examples sake, the Wheel of Fortune machines have 9 lines, last time I checked. That means, there are up to nine lines that you could possibly win on. And yes, you can win on more than one line at the same time! The second row of buttons, directly under the first row is for you to choose how many coins you would like to play per line. No matter what you select, the same amount of coins must be played for every line you are playing. On most machines, the maximum number of coins you can play per line is 5. So, for example, lets say you choose to play 5 lines and are wagering 4 coins per line. On a nickle machine, that would cost you $1.00 and so on. Also, be aware, the more coins you play per line, the higher the payouts are when you win. Also, on all machines, you must be playing all possible lines and betting the maximum number of coins allowed per line to be able to win the jackpot.
Now, you don't need to repeat this process for every spin of the reels. There is also a repeat bet button on the machine that allows you to simply do the whole thing over with the push of a button. Also, there's the max bet button. Push that and you'll automatically be playing the maximum number of lines and the max number of coins. As for bonus games, well, you're on your own there. If you have questions about the bonus games and how they work, on your screen will be a button that says Pay Table. Push that and on the very last pages, there will be an explanations about the various bonus games for the machine you are playing.
And that my friends, is Slot Machines 101.

Any questions? I'd be more than happy to answer them if I can!
