Slot Machines - Who Else Has No Clue What They're Doing?

I love the slot machines but hate to lose money. After losing I think I could have purchased those new shoes or that new bag. So I don't visit too often, and when I do I only play slots with 7's. Get 7's you win, no 7's you lose.

My favorite slot machine to play is Wheel of Fortune

I like playing "Press Your Luck". When you win a certain thing you get to play the 'whammy board'. Pretty fun.

Love those slots. DH and I just got back from Mountaineer and had a great time. We even won, but those nickel slots:confused:   I don't have a clue. They seemed very popular but I just didn't get them. I like to play quarter slots. The nice thing about this trip was when we left. We decided it was time to go so we were walking to the door and DH had 2 half dollars. He put them into the last machine on the way out the door:jumping1: We got 200 halves back. We left, with our bucket of halves. It was great fun.

Video slots. I rarely go to a casino, but when I do, I bring "X" number of dollars, which I know I'm going to lose - and when it's gone, so am I.

I guess my question is - after I put my money in the machine, and every button on the darned thing lights up, what do I press first? Or do I just go with "Play" and hope for the best? ;)

Well, it really depends on the machine. Let's take the ever so popular Wheel of Fortune nickel video slots as an example. After you put your money in, you're right, every darned light will light up...LOL. You have two rows of buttons. The top row of buttons is for you to choose how many lines you'd like to play. Some machines have 15 lines and up. For examples sake, the Wheel of Fortune machines have 9 lines, last time I checked. That means, there are up to nine lines that you could possibly win on. And yes, you can win on more than one line at the same time! The second row of buttons, directly under the first row is for you to choose how many coins you would like to play per line. No matter what you select, the same amount of coins must be played for every line you are playing. On most machines, the maximum number of coins you can play per line is 5. So, for example, lets say you choose to play 5 lines and are wagering 4 coins per line. On a nickle machine, that would cost you $1.00 and so on. Also, be aware, the more coins you play per line, the higher the payouts are when you win. Also, on all machines, you must be playing all possible lines and betting the maximum number of coins allowed per line to be able to win the jackpot.

Now, you don't need to repeat this process for every spin of the reels. There is also a repeat bet button on the machine that allows you to simply do the whole thing over with the push of a button. Also, there's the max bet button. Push that and you'll automatically be playing the maximum number of lines and the max number of coins. As for bonus games, well, you're on your own there. If you have questions about the bonus games and how they work, on your screen will be a button that says Pay Table. Push that and on the very last pages, there will be an explanations about the various bonus games for the machine you are playing.

And that my friends, is Slot Machines 101. :teacher: Any questions? I'd be more than happy to answer them if I can!

I too bring only so much money with me to the casino. Also I will not bring my ATM card with me. Just in case the temptation hits. :teeth: I prefer to play only the slots too, and do not favor the videos though. I start with the quarter machines play Max Bet. Then move on to the Nickel and 2 cent machines as I get down to the bottom of my limit. Once on the 2 cent Spinx machine I won $120.00. Another time I dropped a quarter in a machine I was walking by and won $160.00.

My husband says we will go to the Sencea Niagara Casino next week for my 50th birthday. Hey who knows maybe I can win big on my birthday. That will help me forget I am getting older. On a good note we usually go with my MIL, and every 3rd time we have enough credits on our players cards to buy the breakfast buffet for the 3 of us. Each time we would take a turn so we get a free meal before giving our money away. : :p

I never win anything when I go to Seneca Niagara...I still like to go to Canada. I try to find the quarter machines that have a 2 quarter max bet...I played one machine for over 2 hours last time...winning and losing and winning it back. I usually come home even and I never take more then $50.00 with me...no credit cards, no atm cards. I like to play the video poker too, but you really have to check out the machines before you play on them.

Well if your playing the multi line nickel machines such as Big Tipper-Yukon Gold-Babooska-Sphinx-Jackpot-Cash Man-Xanadu-Winning Bid-I.C.Money-Lobster Mania-Close Encounter-Wheel of Fortune ect.... I think it's best to play allllll the lines.

You may have a 15 line machine a 9,10 or 20 line machine either way I would definitely play the max line. Now if you don't want to play the max coin bet you can always play 1 coin per line or as many as you want on up to the max bet coin per line.

For instance on a max bet 9 line machine that would be 90coins a pop. If and when you get the bonus they multiply the bonus times the line bet.

Since Indy is casino free, dh and I go up North to Harrahs, Majestic and Trump. About 3 weeks ago I won 1200 and something odd dollars on a Sphinx nickel machine after putting my first 20.00.

My favorite table game is ROULETTE honestly I rack up on Roulette especially if a number falls 2, 3 or more times in a row. I just keep stacking and racking.

Has anyone playing the Unicorn nickel slots? My brother won $5,000 this May on one. What was great about this was he and his DW were going to Vegas three weeks later so those winnings paid for his Vegas trip.:D

The most I ever won on a slot was $175 on a Wheel of Fortune machine.

When I play these machines I usually only play 9 lines, 1 bet but every now and then I get bold and Bet double on these 9 lines. I never win too much 'cause I'm too cautious of a player!! :teeth:

My husband on a spur of the moment whim, decided we had to go to the Senece Niagara Casino this morning. So off we went after picking up MIL. Had a great breakfast at their buffet. Then we split up and went our different ways. We always do this.

Just sat down at a 25 cent machine. Put in a $20.00 pressed max bet about 3 times. When the bells started ringingm, the machine froze and flashed call attentant. Whoooo Hoooooo:earseek: The attendant came up to me congratulated me and told me I won $1000.00. tax free cash!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How great was this and I have to pay for 2 sets of college text books for both my DD and DS next week. I feel this should about cover it.

Talk about making my day :jumping1: :jumping1:

Congrats on your win! What slots were you playing?

Aw, man, and I was all excited that I won $50 this afternoon at the slots!

Congrats!

Approx. 3 months ago, I was at Casino Windsor (Canada) and I had only been playing for about 20 minutes (moving from machine to machine). I put 3 quarters in and all of a sudden the "credits" kept going up and up and up. It finally stopped when I had over 4000 credits. I knew that I won but I didn't know how much (there was no flashing light or loud sounds).
I turned to the man next to me and said "how many credits are in a quarter"......
He looked and then said to me "You won a THOUSAND DOLLARS".
I was in total shock and just sat there.
It took about 2 minutes before I realized that I was in Canada and my $1000 was not really $1000 :( it turns out it was about $735 - still not bad winnings though.) :)
