Do you smoke???:smokin:

I used to be a social smoker before I had kids :smokin:. But when I had my first DD, I stopped going out to bars, which stopped the social smoking.

Poll coming!!!

Smoke, but wouldn't call it faithfully. Now smoke Swisher Sweet Menthol Little Cigars. Tried to quit, failed, repeat, and getting to the point where I want to try again.

Never did and never will. I've often wondered what ever made people decide to suck smoke in the first place.

No. All three of my boys have asthma, so they'd better not ever smoke either!

Nope never had and never will. I came from a house of smokers and I always thought it was disguisting. :)

GOOD NEWS FOR ALL CIGARETTE SMOKERS!

As soon as you snuff out that last cigarette, your body will begin a series of physiological changes.

· Within 20 minutes: Blood pressure, body temperature and pulse rate will drop to normal.

· Within eight hours: Smokers breath disappears. The carbon monoxide level in blood drops, and the oxygen level rises to normal.

· Within 24 hours: Chances of a heart attack decreases.

· Within 48 hours: Nerve endings start to regroup. Ability to taste and smell improves.

· Within 3 days: Breathing is easier.

· Within 2 to 3 months: Circulation improves. Walking becomes easier. Lung capacity increases up to 30 percent.

· Within 1 to 9 months: Sinus congestion and shortness of breath decrease. Cilia that sweep debris from your lungs grow back. Energy increases.

· Within 1 year: Excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a person who smokes.

· Within 2 years: Heart attack risk drops to near normal.

· Within 5 years: Lung cancer death rate for average former pack-a-day smoker decreases by almost half. Stroke risk is reduced. Risk of mouth, throat and esophageal cancer is half that of a smoker.

· Within 10 years: Lung cancer death rate is similar to that of a person who does not smoke. The precancerous cells are replaced.

· Within 15 years: Risk of coronary heart disease is the same as a person who has never smoked.

nope, can't stand the smell of it. Not only that but DS13 has asthma so it would be bad for him to be around. My DM used to smoke when I was growing up and I remember trying to hide her cigarettes and lighter. I'm glad she quit about 20 years ago.

I was raised with a mother who smoked like a chimney. I smoked socially in college. Pretty much only when I went out drinking. after that, I stopped cold turkey and have never touched a cigarette again. I think it's a disgusting habit and can't believe I was ever such an idiot to do it, even if only for a short while.

I have been a social smoker for yrs. When I have a cpl of drinks in me I might grab a smoke. I can go weeks and weeks without having a smoke. It is a nasty habit, something i picked up in high school.

I used to smoke before I had kids, but it was more of a social smoking. I can honestly say I was not addicted to it because I went without a cigarette all week long, never craved one, and I don't think I ever bought a pack. I just bummed them off people when we went out on the weekend, and it was usually associated with drinking ;)

I have not touched a cigarette since I got pregnant with my son 12 years ago!

I smoke about 10 cigars a year... never in front of my family, and only on beautiful days, where I can sit back and really relax. I'm always outside when I smoke one.

I can't believe all of the "social" smokers. (I mean I believe you, I'm just surprised.) Nicotine is such an incredibly addictive substance. I really believe some people are more prone to addiction than others. For example, I could never be a social smoker. If I could, I probably would (I know, I know). But for me it was sooo addictive that I would be afraid to take even one more puff. I'd be back at it and have to go through that terrible quitting process again. So I'm done

I "quit" about 2 - 3 years ago but always had a few cigarettes when I was drinking...I stopped that for the new year. My son started quoting all of those horrible commercials that tell you smoking doesn't always kill...

Not any more. My last cigarette was Aug 3rd, 1998 the same day I had my heart attack. Scared me enough to quit. (two stents came out of that- 80% and 100% blockage) :scared:

I quit 10 years ago cold turkey and could never go back to it.
