I have bifocals, maybe trifocals. They are progressive lenses, so no line and and gradual change between strengths. Been wearing them more that 30 years.

I wear glasses with Trifocal lenses. I switched to Trifocal (from Bifocal) about 10 years ago because of the same issues you had with the Bifocals @slo . I did not and have not had any issues with them. My eye doctor told me, at the time I switched, that the Trifocals are much easier to adjust to the Bifocals and he was right.

Those are called progressives. They can take a while to get used to.
I voted OTHER because I have Progressive trifocals. Yes, the first few days with them can be interesting. Climbing stairs as I recall was interesting. But after a couple of days, your brain adjusts.
If I can finally get scheduled for cataract surgery, I should in the near future need just a pair of $4 reading glasses. I could opt for lenses that allow me also to read, but for $12,000 extra, NO THANK YOU.

I have progressive lens ( bifocals) but tend to take them off for reading. I also have high astigmatism and have had glasses since I was 10. I recently found out I have fast growing cataracts and am going for surgery in the first eye second to follow in July so hopefully won’t need to wear glasses much following.

I have glasses and until recently was using single vision lenses, but I was having issues all around with those glasses. So at my recent visit, I moved up to progressives (essentially bifocal but without the line). I have the least amount of area for the distortion/blurriness as my insurance covered the lenses the same despite the less distortion being more expensive. They told me it takes about 2 weeks to get used to them. It requires retraining the brain and how to look through them. I am about a week in and I feel fine wearing for distance, but not as comfortable with the close up stuff. Told me to not wear to drive for at least a week or 2 and to be very careful with stairs. I think I will get used to them eventually, but it is definitely taking some time.

I wear bifocals in my every day life. I can't wear contacts because of my astigmatism, which is very bad. I explored surgery to correct my vision, but was told that my astigmatism was so severe I'd probably still need glasses after the surgery. Oh, well. I've worn glasses since I was twelve anyway.

I also chose Other because I have a second pair of single vision lenses just for reading and the computer. They're actually on my face more than my regular specs.

Mostly I wear contacts and currently I'm doing monovision contacts (I just wear one). My current glasses are regular single vision, but since I started wearing the monovision contacts, I really can't see out of those glasses. My doctor wrote me a prescription to get bifocals, but I Just haven't done it yet.

and I felt woozy in the head - kinda like I was sea sick.
Did you have lined bifocals? Or Progressive lenses? That is, was there a definite line in the lens where the prescription changed, or not?

Typically, the Progressive lens can cause that seasick feeling. People who are going directly from no glasses to bifocals do better at learning to wear them.

People who have lined bifocals have the toughest time transitioning to Progressive lenses.

Those who have single vision lenses fall somewhere between them. With many doing better with lined bifocals.

I have single lenses for distance that I don't need to remove when reading. I've tried wearing my mom's progressive lenses (she has a similar distance prescription) and it was hard to get used to.

I wear single vision 1.25 reading glasses. I used to wear prescription glasses for distance. Had steroid induced cataracts removed and now I only need readers. I can see without them but it's a strain.

I’ve worn glasses for over 40 years, bifocals for about 20. They took a while to get used to.

Wore glasses forever, had the cataract removal some years ago and my eye glasses prescription went from a high powered correction to something much more basic, and just the single lens.
Lucky! That's what happens to most people, or many don't even need anything beyond readers. My results weren't what was hoped because it turned out that due to my congenital cataracts having been formed at the same time as the rest of me, the neural pathways did not develop properly, leaving what is essentially a "blank spot" that my brain tries to see-around. :magnify:Oh well, my vision is corrected well enough with glasses and since I've always worn them, it would have been really weird to be without.

I wear progressive trifocals. LOVE THEM! But I get tired of them sometimes and will just wear readers for close up. My long distance vision is still decent, it’s my intermediate and close up that is pretty bad. 😆 🤓😎👓🕶️🥸

I had cataracts monitored for maybe 6-8 years. The ophthalmologist said they were 'ready' in 2023. I did have the surgery late last year, 2024, Sept and Oct. I do have astigmatism. Therefore had to pick close or far being mostly improved. I picked far. My far sight now is about 90% good without aid of glasses now. Before it might have been 20%. My near is improved some. Colors are greatly enhanced and less light needed, but still light is greatly appreciated, haha. I still wear trifocals though a significantly different, less strong Rx.

I usually wear contacts. One for distance and one for closeup. I sometimes wear single vision glasses for distance if my contacts are bothering me.

I wear single vision glasses and have since I was a teenager over 20 years ago. I'm nearsighted and things start getting blurry about a foot from my face. I can't remember what it's like to wake up and just be able to see, but I can read just fine without my glasses. I'm in my late 30s, so I'm sure I'll need bifocals soon enough.

Both - I started off with Progressives and then changed to the lined. I’m normally not a quitter, but I just couldn’t do them :sad2:

Most of the time I just need glasses for reading so those are single lens. However, I also need glasses for driving (Odd I know) and those are bi-focal. I have a regular sorta blue lens for night time driving and a pair of bi-focal sunglasses for day time glasses. I also own a number of pair of regular sunglasses that have a bi-focal in the bottom since I can't go outside most of the time without some sort of sunglass and you never know when you are going to need to read something. I own another couple of pair of glasses that are just plain ole nothing on top but have a bi-focal on the bottom, I wear those at Disney and use an old fashioned flip up clip on sunglasses on top of them so I don't have to take on and off sunglasses and reading glasses if I go inside a shop or restaurant. I'm one of those people who has a pair of reading glasses stashed in just about every room in the house.

Single lens glasses, but just for driving and seeing distances. I usually leave my glasses off while working as I see my computer screen better without (since I'm close enough to my screens).
