I like both. My daughter's hard shell patty tacos are my favorite, but her chicken soft tacos are great too.

I enjoy almost any taco, but the ones I make at home are usually flour with ground beef. I'm the only one that will eat tacos so I get my preference 100% of the time.:)
:wave2: Solidarity with whoever else lives at your house. I’m the lone vote here that said “No thanks - I don’t like them”. I don’t like Mexican food of any kind so having to choose a favourite would be just picking what I dislike least.

My sympathies!

I do tend to use flour tortillas like bread -- it doesn't have to be Mexican. I'll do cold cut roll ups, or tuna, or even PBJ. Also, leftover meat on it with lettuce/tomato works. Or grilled cheese.

I just had the best soft shell tacos last month, ever. And yes, they were in Mexico at a hole-in-the-wall eatery.

I will gladly consume soft in either the corn or flour variety. I put both because in most cases, you pick the variety that suits the filling. For example, soft corn is the go-to for seafood, but the choice for flour and other proteins may depend on other sauces, marinades, or fillings. Tortillas, in general, are tricky because I don't like any of the name brand store bought ones. The texture and taste are a turnoff. All of the supermarkets here also sell fresh tortillas made daily in the bakery, so that's the only way we're having taco night at home. Although, the bakery made ones are typically more of the flour variety vs. corn. If you ever get a chance to try homemade corn tortillas...jump on it! Sooooo good!

Hard tacos and tostadas are hard pass. I shift into nacho territory if I want that kind of crunch.

I think I prefer hard shell. That's what Marie usually makes at home. Most restaurants do sift shell and those are good also.

When I'm at home, it's always soft flour, when I'm out at an actual mexican restaurant, it's soft corn. When it's americanized bastardization (Taco Bell, Taco John's, Del Taco etc) It's hard shell of whatever they have.

I like both soft (flour) and hard shell tacos…but my 100% favorite are the Doritos flavored hard shells!

Soft shell but I use the boats because you can load them up and everything stays in them. Hard shells just end up breaking apart all the time.

Hard shell, ground beef only. We have a great Mexican restaurant in our town, we go often for Taco Tuesday.

I like either, but probably lean toward soft shell (flour). One restaurant I went to had double shell, where they were in both a hard (on the inside) and a soft (on the outside), and there was a layer of stuff in between those to hold them together - like guacamole or melted cheese. Those were really good, you got the crunch of the hard, but then it didn't all fall apart because it was held in by the soft. Plus they had really good vegetarian choices, I think I had a portabella mushroom taco and a fried cauliflower one. Not a big fan of the soft shell corn, they always seem kind of gritty/mealy to me.

Hard to go wrong with tacos! I love almost any kind, but if I had to choose a preference, it would be a soft shell.

I prefer soft flour, just because hard shells tend to get messy, but I'm not passing up too many tacos (as my waist line can attest to). ;)

Tacos? Hard shell corn tortillas are my preference. However, at my house it depends on who is cooking, as everyone else prefers soft flour tortillas. I try to keep the hard corn taco shells on hand so I can have what I like while everyone else is eating those soft, squooshy things!

Hard shell. I buy them, so I know I get them. But have a granddaughter that like soft, so buy a pack for her. Usually have it when family is here. Too much work with the needed 47 toppings just for us two. My DH will have meat, cheese, lettuce , sauce (this is where I'm done) but also sour cream, onions, jalapenos, hot sauce, and probably something else I'm forgetting.

I enjoy hard shell but its too messy.
First bite then everything starts falling all over the place.

So I eat soft shell.

I absolutely love my sister's tacos.
She's been making them since like 1996 lol.

If I'm at a restaurant I'll get the flour tortilla. If I'm making at home then it's usually the flat bottom hardshell

Hard shells just end up breaking apart all the time.
As much as I enjoy the taste and texture of hard shell tacos, the filling mostly falls away. This is why for a hard shell option I think nachos are the better choice. Obviously I've given way too much thought! :earboy2:
