Can you play an Instrument?
How well do you play it?
Be honest and brag a little if you’re good.
(multiple choice)

*Please share what you play - thanks

For Me……I took piano lessons when I was a kid and I struggled with it. I had a very hard time having my left hand do something different from my right hand - I remember getting very frustrated. My mom still has her piano and there’s a couple little, very easy things, that I can still play, but in no way do I consider myself a pianist (my poll selection was - not very good). When my mom is no longer here, her piano will come to my house, and maybe I’ll take some piano lessons. It would be interesting to see if I still struggle with my hands doing different things.

I played drums in school. I used to love playing the piano but only took a few lessons. My piano is the very first piece of furniture I bought for my apartment back in Colorado. Two of my sons play it well now which I always enjoy when they come to visit. :)

I don’t play any instruments. The closest I came was a high school class for piano. I was no good.

My dh’s family (mom, 3 brothers, a sister, and a bunch of nephews) all play different instruments and are also pretty good singers. Dh got none of that even with lessons.

I did a few lessons on trumpet as a kid. That ended when I started loosing my kid's teeth and could not purse my lips properly. I then tried clarinet, but if I recall, I lost it early on when I left it on the bus on the way home from school. In total, a short musical career for me.

Both Marie and Natalie play the piano. We have ours in the living room.

I took piano lessons when I was a kid. I can still play, but I'm not sure I was ever good. Probably "proficient" at best. And I don't play often.

I also took clarinet lessons for band in school. I hated the clarinet from day 1 (I wanted to play trumpet, but had too much of an overbite at the time, so they told me I needed to play a woodwind. I picked flute, but apparently there were too many flutes so I got stuck with clarinet.) My parents made me stick it out for a year, but I quit as soon as possible and was ready to quit much sooner. (I don't even like to hear the clarinet.)

Ha Ha not coordinated enough for this one ! No I don’t play any never have but am amazed at people who can !!

I played the flute during late elementary school to early high school. I was decent, but haven’t touched it in years (probably decades).

I can't play the guitar, I just have one. I can play songs and the only songs I can and do play is Pink Floyd and David Gilmour.

It's been sitting in the corner for 7 years now, and sat prior to that before life changed as well. I just picked it up over Christmas break again and now I'm working through playing Echoes. Pretty good choice to choose a 23 minute song to learn picking it back up after nearly a decade, LOL.

I enjoyed playing the accordion when I was young, but no longer have it. I tried the piano, but never took lessons, my children did, so, I tried to teach myself. We no longer have the piano. I played the violin a little bit, but was never any good.

I tried keyboard and clarinet - wasn't good at either and didn't enjoy it. I much prefer to sing! Hubby (and his whole family!) plays multiple instruments and picks them up very easily... I hope that's a skill our son has inherited!

I played guitar very poorly when I was a teenager. I never practiced enough. DH bought me a new guitar a few years ago. I still don't practice. :P

Started in school on flute. Switched to French horn. Took up trumpet in high school for jazz band. In college, added alto horn (British brass band style).

Went to college for music education (Indiana University - French horn), so I say I'm good. I've put it aside the last couple of years, but one of my "23 hard things in 2023" is to take it up again.

I took accordion lessons from the time I was 10 until I was 18. I met my late husband at the music studio when he was 13 and I was 14. I haven’t played the accordion in many decades, but I can still read music, of course, and I think I could do it, although it wouldn’t sound like much. 😁

I played clarinet in the school band for 9 years, 4th through 12th grade. I was pretty good and enjoyed it. Most of my friends were also in band, so it was a good social thing. In HS, we got to march at football games and parades, which was a lot of fun. Still have my instrument, but haven’t played in decades.

A few years ago, I got an electric keyboard, and I fiddle around with that once in a while. Self-taught, but it helps that I still remember how to read music.
