The Bear TV show has become a very popular TV series. For those that don’t know….its about a chef’s journey to open a very high end restaurant. Season 3 just dropped the end of June and you can watch this show on Hulu. This poll is not just about the TV show, it’s more about very high end restaurants - the type of restaurant where your meal is plated like a piece of art (I’m not saying this in an insulting way). These restaurants are very expensive to eat at - sometimes $150+ a person.

So tell us today…..

Have you dined at a very high end restaurant?
If yes….when was the last time you did this?
(multiple choice)

*Bonus for those that watch The Bear TV show.

For Me…..No, I have never dined at a very high end restaurant. I honestly have had no desire to - it’s not for me. I do watch The Bear TV show which is what inspired this poll today.

I’ve a background in the hospitality industry so have dined at a few higher end restaurants in my time. As well, the ex was a maitre d’/ sommelier (which ever position paid better) and that helped enhance my learning. The last restaurant of this type I ate at was on my birthday (also the first restaurant I’ve eaten at in a few years).

Haven’t watched “The Bear” yet but plan to binge it in the near future.

I ate at a very high-end restaurant one time. When I was in college, my friends and I all decided to do it (in lieu of doing anything for spring break). We dressed up and went out to the nicest restaurant in the city. It was... okay. I wouldn't say the food was bad (it was probably very good) but it wasn't what I was used to so it was "weird". The waiter recommended an artichoke which we ordered but no one knew how to eat. I just felt out of place. (And I sort of wondered if the waiter recommended the artichoke to laugh at us. It was probably obvious that we were all "playing dress up.") But, anyway, I prefer more casual restaurants and have not desire to go back to something that high end again. (and haven't for the last 30+. years.)

I do watch the Bear though.

My parents took me to a very high end restaurant when I got my Master's degree. It was a cool experience, but it's nothing something I'd save up for or prioritize. @design_mom said it perfectly: we were playing dress up for sure!
However, my husband worked in the food industry for years, and we LOVE The Bear. We haven't started the third season yet, but I'm excited to start it.

While we’ve had a few meals right on the cusp of this, we’ve only had one that really qualifies in my mind as a true fine dining experience. I was really excited about it and it wound up being a huge turnoff. It was either 2004 or 2005.

The meal and setting were visually stunning and tasty, but nothing tasted $250/pp good. The staff attentiveness rapidly declined when we turned down the wine pairings. We each had several cocktails instead, but I guess we came off as uncultured swines because we couldn’t appreciate the work of the sommelier. This was one of those places that didn’t even offer plain old complimentary water. I think the cheapest option was around $6 a glass. Either way, it turned us off to true fine dining.

I have watched The Bear, but I stopped somewhere early on in season 2. It’s just not pulling me in the way it does for some.

I've eaten at several high end restaurants over the years and while they were nice enough, I left just wanting to change into more comfortable clothes and grab a pizza or a burger and a shake.

Not seen the show but have dined at high end restaurants a few times over the years can’t say I’m crazy about it did it for others I’m more a plain meat & potato person in comfy clothes !!! 🤣🤣

We had been invited to a fancy 5 star French restaurant many years ago. Our palates were too pedestrian for the gourmet foods. But it was interesting. :)

I definitely don't look to go to higher end restaurants because they're not generally my thing. But I usually end up going once or twice a year by invitation -otherwise I probably wouldn't ever go. I prefer a less upscale place with great food and fortunately I have plenty to choose from in my area. I watched Season 1 of The Bear and enjoyed it -I'll pick up Season 2 in the next month or two.

I have dined at high end restaurants.......it was fine, but at this stage in my life, I really don't want to do it again.
I do watch The Bear.

Ate at Le Cellier Steakhouse in Epcot 7 years ago if that counts. Tab came to over $200 for two.
My wife and I ate at a high end prix fixe restaurant over 40 years ago, and I ate at a few 44 years ago on business trips so not something that we frequently do.

To picky eater to go anywhere high end…lol plus it looks like I would go home hungry .

I do watch the Bear. Just started the Season 3. The first episode I was confused lol thought I had the wrong season , than the second one was intense like there Christmas show…chaos

If Bull and Bear at the Waldorf near Disney World is high end, that's the nicest restaurant we've dined at. I do believe. We've eaten there 3-4 times. It's my DH's favorite. We've eaten at others similar but not quite as nice. Like Shula's, Ruth's Chris, steakhouses on cruise ships and some others (not all steak places, a nice French place once and seafood and Italian....did Capa at Four Seasons). We don't do it frequently but for special occasions like birthdays and anniversary and such. And we have friends we hang out with who like to try new places, especially high end. So every now and then we do a place with them. While we prefer cheaper eats typically, we are somewhat foodies and like to try all kinds of things.

No, I don't currently watch the Bear but might do so.

My favorite local restaurant has a tasting menu for $125 pp, 4 courses (last one is dessert), and yes, water is $8. Service is great, but it’s not fancy, I’d be comfortable wearing nice jeans and a top. It’s byob, plus they have wine tastings and you can purchase bottles for retail price.

We got through Season 3 but didn’t enjoy it. Some episodes were almost unwatchable - scattered and weird without much meaningful dialogue. Disappointing.

I've been meaning to get my older son to log us into his Hulu account - I've been wanted to watch The Bear, but haven't yet.

We've been to some high end restaurants off and on over the years - some, I've enjoyed, some have fallen flat.

We're not really into high end restaurants, prefer a good pizza or burger. We did eat at one once though, one of the ones up in the Eiffel tower. No idea how much it was as it was built into our trip package.
Never watched the Bear show.

I have been to a few high-end restaurants, mostly as a work thing (which is nice because I didn't pay!). My dad likes fine dining a lot. I will say that while it can be a great experience, I don't usually find it worth it. The reputation is that portions are small, but the food is usually so heavy that it doesn't matter. If you have all of the courses, you will leave full! I honestly prefer more casual places most of the time, or at least a nice, Disney theme park signature restaurant.
