When was the last time you went on a lunch date with someone you don’t live with?
Was it a friend, co-worker, family member or other?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..In about 6 hours it will be today, but I answered 6 months ago.
My best guy friend and I used to be so good about meeting for lunch once a month, but his work schedule has been screwing that up, so we are finally able to meet up today - I’m very excited. Him and I have been friends for 35 years (since I was 16 and him 15 - we worked together).

I can’t remember a time of ever doing lunch with anyone outside my immediate family In the past 20 years. Dinner with friends, yes. Lunch, never.

So this is the last lunch date I remember. Back in ‘97, a guy I went to highschool with unexpectedly showed up at my work and took me out to lunch. He was looking for a date to a wedding. :P

I have been retired for 14 years and have lunch with my other retired friends quite often. My son and I often have lunch together on his day off.

I put other because I have no idea. It’s definitely been awhile. I’m doing a lunch next Saturday with about 17 people but one will be dh so I guess I can’t count that.

Can't remember the last time I "went to lunch." When it's the weekend and we grab something to eat at lunch time, it's because we lived in the middle of nowhere and going grocery shopping or something else took a long time.

If I "go to lunch" it's usually from a couple distant coworkers in sales that come to the plant I work in. They use to have nice budgets and we went out to lunch often. Not so much any more.

Lunch and breakfast meetups were my main way to stay connected with female friends up until 2020.

I would love to resume with new people in our new area but still don't feel secure enough healthwise yet. Do I want to explain my weird situation to a new person, maybe end up defending myself and get into what may be an awkward political standoff over medical stuff, nope, so I abstain. Older friends already accept me so if it's chilly and I ask to stay outside no-one cares, unnecessarily tricky, I think, but here I am nonetheless. I really wish the powers that be would advocate more for people (like me) who are still in a strained position healthwise but so far the whole thing remains a minefield that has nothing to do with the realities of health :(. Hope I can resume at some point but time will tell if the tides change.

Usually once a month with my close cousin, father’s side of family. We get together other times as well: dinners at each others’ houses or at restaurants, etc, but those are less often.

I used to have lunch with some aunts, uncles, and cousins on my mother’s side 4 or 5 times a year, but covid stopped that. It’s been difficult to coordinate schedules since then, due to various unrelated illnesses and other issues. There was one in early November, but I was away on vacation. I think they’re trying to arrange brunch on December 18 but I haven’t heard anything definite yet.

At least a couple of years ago-it was just before Covid- with my sister and my nieces. We don't really do lunch in my family, this was for my sister's birthday I recall, which is December 8th.

I think it is so sad that health concerns have been so politicized over the past recent times. Health is not political. I know of what you speak, LO, and agree with you.

Never really as I work for time as do my friends and they aren't close enough to meet during the week. More often we go for supper.
