So I was supposed to remember to look at it...had a conversation with a co-worker about it...had a less than stellar day at work...completely forgot about it last night
I don’t think the term blue moon actually has to do with the color. I saw it. It was white and a bit larger and brighter than usual, but otherwise not exceptional.
Blue moon refers to a second full moon in a calendar month, not the actual color of the moon...
And a microscope (you'd need a reeeeaaally big one!) would make it look even bigger/closer than your average supermoon.
It was a big, bright, beautiful moon out last night! And, should still be visible as full tonight as well, if you didn't get a chance to see it last night.
I had forgotten about it and then I got a text from my next door neighbor to come out and look at the moon. It wasn’t blue, but it was huge and very bright.
.................................... Did you look at the moon last night?
Were you able to get a good view of it? ......................................
As I have done for many years, I scheduled a bicycle ride that included bicycling during the Moonrise of the FULL MOON @ 8:00pm, bicycling at the time of the FULL MOON @ 9:45pm and bicycling at the Moonset of the FULL MOON @ 7:30am - today.
I was on my bike for the Moonrise and for the actual FULL MOON but was unable to be bicycling at the Moonset this morning. The moon was very bright and the "Man in the Moon" was easily visible. Tonight's brightness will actually be a bit brighter than last night as you can see from the link.
In the past, my FULL MOON Ride would typically be 100 miles long but due to high winds still around from Hurricane Idalia, continued Prostate Cancer issues, bike crashes due to being hit by a WILD HOG in 2020 and 2022 and other incidents I was only able to ride 31.14 miles. Being 73yo now I doubt I will be around for the next "Super Blue Moon" so last night was enjoyable even though too short.
