We homeschool, but DD10 starts back on Monday. It was going to be today, but we will go see my parents this week in NC and have a summer ending hurrah pool party at my sister's.

No more school technically - although DD at some point will be doing work school to finish becoming a Journeywoman in her trade - but I’m not sure when that date is and she will still be working most days - so I’m not counting it !

SLO
Congrats - such a big step sending the last kid to college ! What are you going to do with all that free time ??

I never knew kids went back to school in August until 1977. When Elvis died there was a story about Memphis schools having a day off in remembrance.

The concept was way out of my comfort zone. What kind of idiots make kids go back before Labor Day?!!!!!:scared1:

If it was up to me, school wouldn’t start until “real” fall, September 23, and go until July 1.

I have 2 nephews and a niece that will be going to college this month.

My DD will graduate with her Masters in Art Administration in September from Drexel University. They don't have semesters or trimesters. They work on quarters, hence, a September graduation.

We have 3 granddaughters going back to school this month which means I won’t be watching them so much except the occasional day when I have to pick them up from school until one of their parents gets home from work. I love my granddaughters dearly but they exhaust me after watching them all day. I am always glad when they go back to school.

DGD and DGS go to school on Thursday (which is also DS's BD).
DGS going into kindergarten and DGD into 4th grade.
No more Wednesday baking classes for us :( We've been doing them for 2 years while they were home schooled.
It will be an adjustment for everyone after 2 years at home.

My son will be starting his senior year in college this year. (Next weekend, we have to go pick him up from his summer internship in NYC. He's had a great summer. Then we'll have him for a week, and then send him back to school.)

My daughter is also starting her freshman year of college. She moves in two weeks from today. I'm not ready to be an empty nester!!!

Youngest is heading to college on the 20th. The oldest commuted from home to community college. It isn't as weird feeling to me as to mom because they live with mom. My oldest is never home any more and the youngest locked her in her room studying all the time so it's like she was never around as well.

I'm so excited to hear about her experience after she moves in since I didn't go that route. I also did the commute to community college so only experienced dorm life as a visitor, and don't want her to be involved in the same experiences I was involved in, LOL.

DD freshman in college, moves in Aug 17
DS sophomore HS, starts this Friday, blah. early mornings on the way......

My kids are adults, although my youngest still takes the odd course now & then, we are well removed from the school routine. I recall how odd it was after they were done school (only one year apart) and it took me a few years not to feel like I needed to ramp up for the start of the school year  but I eventually got out of that track. I'm glad to be out of the school situation, it was fine while we were in it but glad to be done with it!

Kinda messed up, my niece (16 yo) goes back to school in a week. So sad for her.

My kids (DD10 and DS12) go back in 4 weeks, the very end of the month. So we will have a lot of summer left. Yay! They just started their last week of swim camp, we head to PR next week, and then they get 2 weeks to lay around the house and be useless.

I'm feeling like I should consider thinking about buying some school supplies this week. Maybe.

My son is grown and his daughter is only 16 months old so no one here. I do have a niece who is a teacher but I'm not sure when she goes back. I can remember when I went to school we didn't go back until after Labor Day and summer started on Memorial day. 3 full months of summer vacation. We also had a full week at Thanksgiving and the week before Christmas until after Jan. 1 off and Easter week. Of course, those were the days we walked to school uphill both ways in the snow.

Younger son starts his senior year of HS in a couple weeks (Aug. 19th, I think).

Older son will be staying at his co-op job until the end of this year. He goes back to classes in the spring.

We have two grandsons who will be high school seniors this year, a granddaughter in 8th grade, a great granddaughter in 2nd grade, another great granddaughter in kindergarten.

No one going back- for the first time in a long time. DD20 is finishing up college this month at her internship.

But her BF left for grad school this weekend so it feels like someone went back to school. He was her roommate this summer so a big change for her to be 4 hours apart now.
