After 5 days of so much fun and lots & lots of walking - a grand total of 108,634 steps that equals 47.86 miles we are home. I can go on and on with how much fun we had - I’ll put together a small trip report later.

When going on vacation somewhere that‘s at a resort, or has a special hotel room, do you take pictures of the room before you unpack?

For Me……Yes, always ::yes::
My family knows to keep everything outside the room until I take the pictures - I only do it at special places.

Pictures from our recent room at All Star Movies - we were very happy there.
The room is small, but was perfect for us. The resort is huge, but we didn’t care - it was a nice walk every morning to get my coffee and we drive everywhere, so walking to catch the bus didn’t apply to us.

I don’t take pictures of my room when I enter. I can search up room pictures online, so it’s meaningless to me.

I very seldom take a picture of the room unless it's of my family members.

Welcome back, Slo.

Only if the room is themed special otherwise rarely take pics but I do take tons of the resort
Welcome Back ! Can’t wait to read your trip report !!!
Those rooms look nice !!!

Welcome back! Looks like a fabulous time was had. 😁

I rarely take pictures of the room. Either I’m showing someone in particular (planning trip to same location), or the room is spectacular and I’m excited.

Welcome back!!
We just got back last night.

I used to when I was doing a lot of scrap books. I stopped when I decided to only scrap family trips and kids books. I was getting way too far behind.

Only if it’s something special. We find we’re taking fewer and fewer pictures of anything on vacation now and just really trying to be in the moment. Really, we hardly ever looked at the dozens and dozens we used to take - it’s just as nice to remember things in our minds’ eye when we reminisce about our times together. :hyper2:

Yes, I have started to do this every trip...although almost all of our trips have been to Disney/Universal, so not sure I'd do it other places, but hope to. I do tend to do trip reports, sometimes reviews, and like ot have the pictures to remember. Also helps us later if we stay at the same hotel and need to recall things about the room, (what time of coffee maker is in the room, etc.)
Glad y'all had a wonderful trip and enjoyed your stay!!!

I think I’ve only done it to show other family members the room—the first time we stayed at AKL youngest DD and I arrived earlier in the day and everyone else was coming later. I was really excited about staying there and took pics and was sending them. Another time DD and I were going to a volleyball tournament without DH and we ended up in a corner room with a great view and extra space and I sent him pics wondering how he managed to get us that room.

Generally no though.

It never occurs to me. I’m old school and don’t post every single second of my life online.
::yes:: Social media must be a big part of it - why else? Does anybody really look at their own pictures very often, let alone organize them into albums, or print them or whatever? I missed the first wave of involvement with Facebook/My Space, way back in the day. There were times I felt a little FOMO over it but now, in hindsight, it just feels like having dodged a BIG bullet. Almost everyone talks about their accounts/on-line activities as a conflict-prone, love/hate situation.

I have taken photos of my room before. Either to post on the DIS Disneyland hotel thread (years ago) or to show family because it was extra cool or awful. But I don’t regularly do so.

I chose rarely, but interpreted "super special" as "something funny." Also, views from my window. I travel a bit for work, and it seems like EVERY room I get put in has a glorious view...of the HVAC unit. I swear I'm going to do a coffee table book on HVAC units I've seen.

"Something Funny" example. Wouldn't you expect Jacob Marley to come visit you if this artwork was over YOUR hotel bed?

ETA: and welcome back, @slo! Missed you!!

This is why I do it - our parents enjoy all my pictures and I do love looking back at my pictures for myself too. I bought a 2023 photo album at a WDW gift shop to put all my pictures in and then I can let friends and family look through it 🙂👍🏼
