Sorry, not sorry. I am very happy she is average height, for a multitude of reasons.
1. Clothes. I have hated not being able to fit in most pants due to short legs, even "petite" sized. Yeah, I put that in quotes because 30" inseam is NOT petite. And sorry altering jeans/pants never looks the same. It has always been my number one annoyance with being short.
2. I would not have been hired at many airlines due to being short. There are still some careers out there that have minimum height requirements for safety.
3. Yes, I am content with being short, and I am sure she would have been too. However, you know people always comment on your height. I only had issue with it during a very small phase in my life (teen when I would be treated as a young child by outsiders), but the ribbing is still endless. "how's the weather down there," "wow, you're short" (gee, I never knew

) or propping your arm on my head. People love to joke about being short. Most of us learn to take it in stride, but some don't.
4. Reaching things! I wish I wouldn't have to climb like a spider monkey to reach the top shelves of my kitchen cabinets. I wish I wouldn't have to climb to reach the bread I like in the grocery store. YES, so happy my daughter doesn't have to do that.
5. Not being able to see anything in a crowd or a theater that doesn't have stadium seating. UGH!! We changed seats at a concert recently because a tall person went right in front of me when the show started and I couldn't see the stage without bobbing and weaving.
6. Putting on weight. Being short when you put on weight it tends to be noticeable faster, and it is easier to have an unhealthy BMI.
7. Stereotyping. Short is viewed as meek, a follower, not assertive. It is shown to correlate with slower career advancement. That stinks, and is so unfair.
Yes, I am absolutely fine being short. It is something I cannot change. But for those reasons listed I am happy my daughter will not have to fight some of those challenges. It absolutely would not have been the end of the world if she was short, but why not want your child to have every advantage!
