This poll is sorta kinda piggybacking off the blue/black ink poll.

Who here writes checks?
If you do….how often?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I write checks as often as every week.
Church - every week
Car pymt - every month
Life Insurance - every month
Doctor‘s Office - Whenever we go - they charge to use a credit card
Monetary Gifts I send through the mail - I’ll be doing this next week.
Anything I want a receipt for that doesn‘t give a receipt - like a fundraiser or donation

I still write checks. Occasional bills that DH doesn't pay online, birthday gifts for nieces & nephews, charities, etc. I probably average one to three a month.

Basically never. I've had my current checking account for a decade or so and have never even ordered checks for it.

I sometimes write check to pay certain bills or for things (like Girl Scout cookies, most recently ). It's rare, though.

Rarely. Occasionally pay an independent plumber or other contractor by check. My pilates instructor takes cards but I don't want her to incur the fees, so I buy a package every few months. Household bills all either go on credit cards or direct debit from my checking account.

I’m gonna say every few months. I did write one last week to my brother but other than that we write very few. We either do online or for medical we have a health savings plan so even drs don’t get checks anymore. I think our garbage company doesn’t do online payments so I think they get a check. Some charities we send checks.

I always write a check when I donate to charities instead of using a credit card. The charity doesn't receive your total contribution if a credit card is used. The credit card company, Visa, MasterCard, etc, subtract the processing fee before they send the balance on to the charity. So, a contribution of $500 made using a credit card may only give the charity $485, for example.

I'll write a few checks per year, mostly for birthday gifts that are mailed or medical bills.

Never, it's been probably 4-5 years since I wrote a check. Our yard guy finally got with the times and takes Venmo, most other independent contractors do as well (or Paypal) if they don't take credit cards. We do pay anything we can with cc though for the points, everything else gets paid online via our bank accounts. I used to write them for anything related to school when I still had kids in school after I paid something in cash that they had no record of.

If I need to send a paper check for something there is an app with my bank to do so. All other bills are paid electronically.

Most charities I donate to give me the opportunity to cover the fees.

About 5 or 6 per year. My primary care doctor only accepts cash or checks for co-pays. Then there are a few checks for various miscellaneous reasons.

I know I write at least 3 a year, at Christmas, for postal carrier, trash removal driver and paper delivery person. Other than those 3, i know I write maybe 2 or 3 more during a year, can't think of whom at the moment. All bills are either auto pay or bank online or CC online. The bank or CC online are where I want to verify the bill before payment, either in paper form or E form. Marie still writes probably 5 or 6 a month. I did finally get her using CC for most in person purchases though.

Old fashioned guy here. I write checks for most bills. Don't have venmo or those types of apps. Wife is very cautious about any online bill paying.
