As we approach NYE tomorrow, it’s a good time to reflect on 2022, which brings me to ask……

How was YOUR 2022?

For Me……My 2022 was very good.

I watched my Mom turn 75, DD19 have a great HS senior softball season, DD19 go to her senior prom, DD19 graduate from HS with honors and be one of two speakers at graduation, DD19 go away to college & be super happy and DD19 play college softball. My parents and my DH’s parents are still healthy and my marriage is still strong. There have been some negatives that prevented this year to be classified as awesome, but I think we all have negatives, it’s a part of life.

I’ve had some years throughout my life that were lousy, ones that I could hardly wait to be over, so it’s nice to look back on this year and smile because it happened and not be glad that it’s over.

I may do a poll tomorrow, but for those that may not come on The DIS tomorrow…..

Well started a new job, but it requires me to be in the office every day, so that kinda sucks. It is also downtown D.C., but they do have a parking garage.

I would put 2022 as one if the worst years I’ve ever had - as the saying goes I’m staying up to make sure this year leaves ! 🤣🤣
I’m trying to put things in place to make 2023 better but unfortunately items from 2022 are going to carry over into 2023 so things may not improve right away - but I have great supportive friends who are always there for me and that is help beyond words ! ❤️🙏
Wishing you all Blessings & Health & Happiness for the New Year!!

It's been a good year.
Back to taking vacations.
We're as well as can be expected for our ages and medical conditions.
Grand kids went back to school from being home schooled for 2 years.
DD got a good job and she can work from home.

I said good.

Everyone is healthy, husband is retired and we travelled again. Both kids are working and moving nicely along in life.

I’m sure there were bumps but can’t remember right now so all is good!

Mediocre. There were good things, but the rest was a struggle- mostly medical issues. I started the year with covid (tested + on Christmas Day 2021) and even though I was only quarantined for 5 days, I was sick longer. We lost a very close friend at the end of January, which although not unexpected, was hard. DH got covid in May, I caught it again from him. I also had a medical scare in May that landed me in the hospital for a few days. This fall, I had viral bronchitis in September that stretched out into late October, and in December I got the flu and had a "household accident" that still has me on crutches (2+ weeks and counting). I have to come to the realization that I am 66, not 36, and treat myself better in 2023. In the "not directly me" categories, DD and SIL both now have covid; I am SO hoping I don't get it again! DD's stepson has had some serious issues that have taken up a lot of our headspace; it's been hugely stressful watching him struggle, seeing what DD/SIL are going through.

On the PLUS side... DD, her DH, and his now-6 year old son moved in with us in March. Although there have been adjustments, overall it's been very good for all of us and it's wonderful to have them here, and having a stable home with stable adults has been good for the 6yo. I also did a fair amount of traveling: DH, DD, and I went to FL for a memorial service in March and then traveled to CO in July to spread ashes (sad excuse, but good trip/our friend's son and his family), DH and I spent 2 weeks at a a beach cottage in August and a long weekend at a condo in October, DD and I went to Disney in August and I took a solo trip to Disney in November (which was extended due to Hurricane Nicole- fortunately I could work remotely).

All in all, 2022 was a mixed bag for me, and I'm hoping that 2023 is better!

Mine's had its ups and downs. Got laid off from a job I'd been at for almost ten years... but, I found a new job that I really like. Daughter graduated from high school with honors, but struggled at college and is dreading going back (academically did fine, but she did not enjoy college life at all). But... overall, it was good. We're very blessed. Everyone is healthy, including our parents, we got to take a couple of nice trips and do some things we haven't done since before the pandemic, etc.

I voted good because it balanced out with the bad.
Good - saw youngest ds graduate with masters in family nurse practitioner
6 days in Disney with Dh and Ds.
Bad - All 7 of our family got covid. Ds3 twice but he does covid floor in hospital. And Dh bounce back from Paxlovid.
Our heating system broke twice
Our dishwasher broke and flooded the kitchen
A murder 3 houses away and they still haven’t found the killers. It was targeted but I don’t feel safe at times.
Got sick from Dh cold he got at Disney and ended up in hospital here overnight.
I may or may not be going on cancer journey 3.
We’re still here and have our faith. Life is good.

2022 was a very good year for us. It was DH's first year of retirement and he didn't drive me crazy. :) School is a bit less stressful this year, so I'll chalk that up to a win. DS started a new job with the National Archives and is loving it. DD finally made tenure with her school. We're in relatively good health and financially secure. It was a very good year!

I'll go with good. First 6 months of the year I dealt with ongoing heart issues, spent 10 days in hospital. Last six months of the year, doing okay, so ultimately good. 6 of the 8 kids/grandkids had COVID (several multiple times), but all got through okay, so ultimately good there also. Neither Marie nor I had COVID, so a good there. I fell in the driveway Christmas evening, could not get up (just like the commercial). Bitter cold, nobody home. Had my phone, called 911. Paramedics got me up, checked me out, all okay, so again, ultimately good. Marie's 90 year old uncle, for whom we have been caregivers for 6 or 7 years, is in hospice, so sad there.

But, Marie is still here kicking, 24 years in remission from stage III breast cancer, and I'm still here kicking, so both good in the still kicking category.

So, overall, a good I guess.

Very good in our household . Second grandchild born. First full year of retirement. Pandemic had limited impact on anything important to us. Retired (early) in 2021, living off savings so we really didn't plan on any big trips until 2024 when we both hit full social security retirement age. That will add $5,000+ a month to our income.
We did, however, lose a number of friends in 2022. None from covid, many at a young age from unexpected causes.....and actually in two cases, from causes that could not be determined.

I went with awesome too. We had a whirlwind year with of lots of traveling. Hawaii, 2 Disney cruises, Disneyworld regularly and Disneyland which I had to reschedule twice because of Covid. Our daughter got a full scholarship to an elite private school in our area that costs $35k for high school that has an amazing performing arts program which is her passion. Our son had a great junior and start of senior year with robotics and band and our youngest one is doing great in school too and also loves robotics and is looking forward to competing in HS too. Spent nice quality time with family and friends that we hadn’t seen as much the last few years due to social distancing. It was a drama free year filled with fun, laughter, friendship and family. Plus we had a great trip to Tampa to eat at Berns with our lifelong friends and their kids.

Just alright.

Nothing too exciting happened here. Work is the same. We didn’t get to travel to the places we had hoped due to my kids passports taking 4 and 5 months to arrive. I got Covid after escaping it for 2.5 years but I luckily I got a very mild case and my family did not catch it. I seemed to be plagued with minor illnesses this year though.
