how do you decide what size (full extra full a line...) to get for your dress? i'm going to order 2 more from ebay to practice my dyeing since their so cheap!!! i can't find an ivory slip anywhere...so i'm going to try dyeing one goldish/ivory...

Hi! I have seen the picture of the dress that is close to yours on your PJ (which is great by the way). For that type of dress you should go with the a-line slip. Any bigger and the slip will get bunched up under your dress.
I work at David's Bridal so I have to ask, why are you going to dye the slip?

I too was wondering that, I'm going to order mine of ebay but it confuses me but hoop and non hoop!! I dont know whcih one to order and wether it has more than one hoop!!!

I would love to dye mine but my dress is pink already so would not know what colour to dye it

this is the slip that i ordered last night...it's the extra full a-line. i just found a super full a-line that's bigger and i'm wondering if i should have ordered that one...i'll see how it looks when it comes in, it's already shipped so hopefully it'll be here soon.

orangetiggs- i didn't want a hoop skirt because i've heard that they are hard to sit down in! so i got a regular skirt...i'm going to try to dye mine a goldish ivory color, i just don't want it to look stark white under my dress which is light gold. there is a thread that i started on here awhilel back (i think it's on page 3 or 4) that has a link to the knot's page on colored slips...some of them look really cool!

i ordered it from angel bridal on ebay, they have a TON of them...and they're cheap!

Thank you!!! When you get yours in, can you please post a picture of you in it? I'm having a hard time as well deciding if I should get the full slip or the super full slip.

How do you have any idea what kind of slip to get? I got my dress from David's Bridal and I tried it on with a slip but i don't remember which one. Is ebay a good place to look for slips? David's Bridal was just way too expensive to buy their slip. And how do you know what size to get...do they normally run small? I would post a picture of my dress but I am new and I don't know how to post pictures

well to be perfectly honest, i found the idea to dye it on these boards, jaxteach did hers blue and it's fantastic! i then decided that i HATE my slip, so i wanted a bigger fuller skirt (i'll be updating my pj any minute now and will have full details there) so i went on ebay because i read that a bunch of girls on here did that, picked out one that i like, audisight works at DB and she gave me some great advice...so i just ordered one, i'll post pics when i get it!

I bought my final slip and hoop skirt from Angel Bridal on eBay. I think they're sizing is one size as far as actual waist size-- well they have a misses and a plus size. Definitely look on eBay. I bought the slip from David's and didn't like it. I went with a super full A-line crinoline and a 3 hoop skirt for my dress. I am only putting the bottom hoop in the hoop skirt to keep the tulle from the crinoline off my legs.

ok, so you're wearing 2 things under your dress? a hoop and a crinoline? did you take the other 2 hoops out? is the super full a line bigger than the extra full? i ordered mine from angel bridal as well! how are they fitting both under your dress? thanks for the info, you're the slip authority!

Haha, well since I somehow ended up with 4 slips, I guess I've learned a bit! :rotfl:

The hoop skirt is really thin... it's not poofy at all, the 3 hoops do that. You can take the hoops out (I had to to dye it). I put the middle sized hoop in the bottom slot so it's not too full at the bottom, just enough to keep the scratchy tulle/netting off my legs! The other 2 hoops have been used by my niece and nephew as hula hoops lately since I'm not using them.

The super full is bigger than the extra full, but I'm not sure if it's a huge difference. The slip I bought from David's (which is probably what they had you try your dress on with) is as big as the extra full from Angel Bridal.

I have an A-line Monique Luo dress.

I was nervous about using the hoop skirt at all, but it looks fine and keeps the scratchy material away from my legs! Luckily that eBay seller is fairly inexpensive so I was able to experiment with the different slips.

Good luck with your slip adventure! And I read in your PJ that you're dying your slip-- yay! :woohoo:

hmm, I just found this thread and you've ordered already, but I wanted to say that I had a 3 hoop and it was perfect. I wanted max pouf under my full organza ballgown, but didn't want to spend $100 on the largest crinoline my bridal shop had. I got the 3 hoop from Angels Bridal on eBay like the rest of you. I had read somewhere (can't remember if it was here) that sitting in a hoop skirt is actually EASIER than in a regular crinoline. You lift the hoop closest to your butt slightly and then sit on it. That action flattens the front of your dress. I could have gotten a 4 hoop, but that might have been excessive...:rotfl: My skirt was POUFY POUFY POUFY and I loved it! It was also very cool because all that dress was off my legs. I was worried about it being itchy, but there was a satin lining on the inside of the skirt.

do you have a picture?

i'm surprised at how BIG they are...i see what you mean about sitting, i'm actually in mine right now (df thinks this is hilarious)...i might take the top hoop out though, its making the crinoline really stretch, i'm going to try it on with the dress tomorrow...

How's this?

dress

It's a little wrinkled b/c I was holding it up, as you can see. I didn't practice walking in the hoops enough. It swings like a bell, so you have to swing your hips a certain way. LOL

you can adjust the sizes of the hoops, too, you know. I think they slide to adjust?

o it looks PERFECT! your dress is similar in shape to mine, so now i'm really excited to get df off to work so i can try it on!!! did you wear another crinoline with it?

thanks! nope, just the hoopskirt. The dress was poufy anyway, I just wanted it EXTRA poufy. The bridal shop told me I didn't need to wear a crinoline, but...hello? ballgown? pouf! LOL
