i have decided i need to diet again. i am not a shorts and vest top girl when here in uk more like jeans and tea shirt. so out comes the suitcases full of shorts and vest tops for my hols to spain last week, went i got there i discovered most of favorites clothes either didnt fit or my baby-belly came to say hello over the top. i knew i had put some weight on but my jeans still sort of fit so never throught anything of it.

after my son was born i went on atkins and lost 4 stone and left me in size 16 clothes, now im afraid to say im back in 18 and they are getting tighter. i refuse to go back to bigger sizes. been there done that.... atkins i cant do. family hate me doing it although i see results fast. done weight watcher over 10 times in the past 6yrs. i need something different. so im gonna try slimming world. weight in is thrsday night 6.30pm

can any one give me advice? is it good diet? will it work? and any one done it before.:thumbsup2 :surfweb:

I have tried all the diets. But what is working for me right now, is just cutting my calorie intake. I attended WW off and on for around 2-3 years and my weight went up and down. I went to Slimming World, and Scottish Slimmers, and got the same.

But in the past 2 months I have lost 16 lbs - and just by cutting back.
I've reduced my calorie intake to 700-800 a day, allowing around 1,000 at the weekends.

However, saying that, I think Slimming World is a good diet - I preferred it to all the others and it is much easier to follow.

Good luck with it !! :thumbsup2

I have done WW, Simming World and Rosemary Conley, they all work if you stick to them.

On slimming world you choose to have either a 'red' day or a 'green' day, if you are veggie it is all green days. You do get plenty of food. Red days are more meat based and green are more cereal/pasta type of food.

good luck :cool1:

sue- thanks for in put. my friend is doing that diet to. are you counting fat content as she isnt and is only losing 1-2 lb a week. you have done greeat. well done. keep it up.

irongirl- thanks for in put. gonna try slimming world and see if its for me. looking forward to it. have a good holiday!!!

WOW well done thats great. if you dont mind me asking what sizes have you gone down by with that weight loss. i am a big girl and find i can lose 2-3 stone and only drop 1-2 sizes

I've done Slimming World and it's great if you're the type of dieter that feels hungry all the time. It's also very simple to follow. I lost 2 stone with them some years ago, but it does become fairly easy to cheat the system (although ultimately I was only cheating myself) and then obviously the weight loss stops.

I'm with Weight Watchers now and find their system more disciplined and I'm getting much better results. I've lost 4stone 2lbs since end of Feb.

As Andrea said all of the major slimming clubs work if you stick to their diet plans.

SW didn't work for me - too much food to think about. For the past 2 years, I've kept carbs to a minimum (my own version of Atkins/ South Beach) and weight loss has been slow but steady. It totally works for me as I never feel denied and I can eat out without feeling guilty... :thumbsup2

To answer your question about size-dropping, I've lost 2.5 stones and gone down 2 sizes - it's a slow but rewarding process... :goodvibes

Sue, I don't know whether your following the weight loss plan on the advise of your GP, or not. If you're not I would advise that you up your calorie intake. Consistently having an intake of under 1200 calories a day is really detrimental to your health, you lose more muscle than fat and ulimately screw up your metabolism, making it more difficult to lose weight in the future. I hope that you don't think that I'm lecturing you! I just wanted to give you the heads up in case you didn't know! :goodvibes

i tried SW but i dont eat much meat so i found it very restrictive :confused3

good luck

Catherine....... actually you are right and I do know about the muscle/fat thing. My son is doing an HND in Health, Fitness and Sport at College right now and this is part of his course.

My calorie intake is actually not quite as bad as I first said - I reckon
probably 800-900 during the week and 1100 at the weekends. (I forget the little things) :lmao:

Thanks for your concern though.

just returned from slimming world. my weight not as bad as i reckoned. me and sister had one to one talk with leader. (which she is lovely). really made us feel welcome. reading books and trying to get head around the diet and how it works. so far im impressed. looking forward to eating foods i couldnt on atkins and dont have to count points like with WW. i will post on diet thread from now as kaylee quotes. so wish me luck...:thumbsup2
gonna give it my best..

Good Luck. You seem to be in the right frame of mind, I hope it all goes well.
